This was a easy buy after a week long research. I found that this unit does what others have raved about. I did do the hand test to feel any cool air coming in our home from the door and it passed with flying colors. Seems that this is a dogggie door that I can live with. I had replaced another brand and found that this pretty much lined up to the old hole in the door and screw holes with a little finess work. Overall I'd give this door a 4.5 star rating. Love the sliding close plate! I'd buy this one again and that's saying alot! Installed in winter 2011.

The Perfect Pet door arrived promptly. I asked a friend, who has construction tools, to install the all weather door in our garage on the "people" door that opens on the side of our garage. He measured the opening using the template that came with the Perfect Pet door. Using a nifty electric saw, he cut the opening and installed the Perfect Pet door. It installed quickly and easily (because my friend had all the right tools to cut the door and complete the installation). A few days later, I purchased some grout from my local hardware store and sealed the junction of the Perfect Pet door with the people door to keep out any rain. That was the easy part.

The goofy cat was a whole other problem. As soon as my friend arrived with his construction tools, our cat took off and hid. After the installation was complete, our cat wanted nothing to do with that door. So, the little monster had several days of just remaining in the garage. My wife finally had it with the little monster and simply shoved him through the door. After a few more shoves, the little knucklehead seemed to get the idea. Soon he was using the door all by himself. His "break-in" to the door took about two weeks. He still (after about two months) is a little nervous about the door, but seems to overcome his fear because of his desire to go outside and play. After playing (or whatever he does when he scoots-off), he is anxious to get back into the garage, get out of the Utah winter, and eat something.

I am very pleased with the Perfect Pet door. It works well. It is on the north side of our garage. It has held up to the winds and cold Utah winter so far. I am very pleased. I asked our monster cat if he liked the door. He looked at me and yawned. I guess that is cat-talk for "yes, I like it."

Door is terrific. Our dog has figured it out. Our cats need more time : )
