Gary Chapman's The 5 Languages of Love is a classic and still much read book.
They have now released a children's book to help the kids understand that everyone has different ways they show and experience love.
Though the concepts are explained in simple terms, children ages five to ten are probably target age group for this book.

A Perfect Pet for Peyton is such a wonderful book. It not only tells a
wonderful story, but on each page you have search and find pictures.
Like find all of the insects on this page or find all of the animals. This
will really help your child become more observant.
This book is about Peyton and Penny as they celebrate their birthdays
and go to a special place to find a perfect pet. It also is a book to help
you find out which of the 5 love languages your child has. After
reading the book several times there are questions in the back that
will help you to determine which one best suits your child.
The 5 different love languages are:
Words of Affirmation
Quality Time
Physical Touch
and Acts of Service.
This book is the perfect size 8 X 10 and has the most colorful,
interesting pictures. Besides being very entertaining it is also very
helpful in learning about your child. It's like a workbook with a
fantastic story to go along with. Your child will only enjoy the story
and not know about the 5 different love languages. I highly
recommend this book. So very interesting.

I really enjoyed reading this to my son, but for a 6 yr old he was distracted by the lengthy paragraphs on each page, he's usually pretty attentive but there was so much to absorb on each page, plus there was an activity of searching for items on each page, if I had tried to break it up and only read a few pages one night and the rest the next night he wasn't putting the links together. The content is very good and it's ideal for kids who love animals but the read is just long, i would cut a few sentences out just to get to the next page without losing the focus of the content.

I first heard about Five Love Languages a few years ago when I was going through couples counseling. The adult version of this book transformed my life and the relationships that I have with others. Knowing how to affirm the love you have for someone in a way unique to them is liberating for all involved. So when I saw that Moody Publishing had a kids version of this book I knew I wanted to read it with my 7 year old. Once again I was not disappointed. This wonderful book really helps teach children about the five love language: gifts, words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch and acts of service through a outlet they can relate to-animals. s they walk along side each child in the story they discover unique traits they each have, how to recognize and how those traits translate into a love language.

This hard backed book is easy for little hands to hold. Pages are thick enough that they do not tear easy and the gloss finish helps prevent the pages from sticking together, which also aides in making this book easy for small children to manipulate. The illustrations are bold, vivid and very detailed. The warm and welcoming pictures help engage the child and bring the story to life. One of my sons favorite aspects of the book was searching for different animals hidden on each page. Some of which were pretty tricky to spot. The sprinkles of added colored text in different sizes made the book fun and added an extra level of excitement for visual learners.

I adored going through the quiz in the back of the book to learn the love language of your child. I already knew what my son's was, but it was nice to go through the book and get confirmation with his own opinion of how he sees himself.

A long time ago, I read "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman. I learned my love language is (or was, at least) Words of Affirmation and my then-boyfriend's (now husband's) is Physical Touch. It's perfect that our boys are so sweet to their mama and they love to wrestle with their daddy.

I've waited a good long while to learn my children's love languages and "A Perfect Pet for Peyton" by Rick Osborne and Gary Chapman is a great opportunity to learn more about their love languages.

The book was a little wordy for us; we don't usually read such long picture books, but we took it a few pages at a time and I'm certainly glad we did. It was a great little story about a set of twins having a birthday party at Mr. Chapman's Perfect Pet Emporium. I sure wish there was such a place filled with awesome animals and adventures for kids (I can't imagine the cost of that though! Do I sound like a parent enough?).

At the end of the party, Mr. Chapman tells each kid which animal would work well with their love language. If you're unfamiliar with the love languages they are:

- Gifts
- Words of Affirmation
- Physical Touch
- Quality Time
- Acts of Service

While you may think that you know how to love your family, I really suggest you read either this book or the other Love Language books because it does matter that you love them, but how can you love them BEST?! I can say nice things to my husband all day, but without physical touch he's not getting loved the best.

There's a quiz in the back of "A Perfect Pet for Peyton" to help you realize your child's love language.
