wonderful story, but on each page you have search and find pictures.
Like find all of the insects on this page or find all of the animals. This
will really help your child become more observant.
This book is about Peyton and Penny as they celebrate their birthdays
and go to a special place to find a perfect pet. It also is a book to help
you find out which of the 5 love languages your child has. After
reading the book several times there are questions in the back that
will help you to determine which one best suits your child.
The 5 different love languages are:
Words of Affirmation
and Acts of Service.
This book is the perfect size 8 X 10 and has the most colorful,
interesting pictures. Besides being very entertaining it is also very
helpful in learning about your child. It's like a workbook with a
fantastic story to go along with. Your child will only enjoy the story
and not know about the 5 different love languages. I highly
recommend this book. So very interesting.

The illustrations appear to be digitally rendered and are very detailed and colorful.
I love Gary Chapman's concept of the five love languages and I was excited about reading this book because I wanted to see if this book could be used to teach the love languages to very little children. But after two or three pages I had to put it down. It took me three sessions of reading to finish. I was completely overwhelmed. Not only are there lengthy paragraphs with some words highlighted in color, but there are also page activities. You are encouraged to look for insects on every single page of the book. There are also seek activities such as: can you find these six animals on this page? I had to stop after reading each paragraph to look for the items and by then I had lost my train of thought. I did not understand why certain words were highlighted while others were not. There was no glossary in the back.
There is a questionnaire at the end to help you determine your child's love language, but there is no parent guide on how to use the book for the most benefit.
If I were reading this story for the first time to a child, I would leave out all of the seek and find activities and just read the story. This story may need more than one sitting because of its length (62 pages). Then read it a second time using the seek activities.Read more ›

“Pets do some things naturally that can kind of match our Love Language. When you find one that matches your, that’s a perfect pet pal,” Gary Chapman and Rick Osborne write in their children’s book, "A Perfect Pet for Peyton."
Part of the 5 Love Languages Discover Book series, this sixty-four page oversized hardbound targets preschool to early elementary school aged children who enjoy stories about friends, pets, and animals. With no scary or violent scenes, the book may appear lengthy to young readers. Due to some complicated wording, it would best be read out loud to beginner readers.
Illustrator William’s small to full page colorful drawings grace every page, with expressive facial details. Having added small insect pictures hidden on every full page as well as picture games looking for specific animals make it fun for almost any age bracket.
In this Christian-based story, it is twins Peyton and Penny’s birthday. After a quick prayer and breakfast, their parents surprise them with a trip to Mr. Chapman’s Perfect Pet Pal Emporium, complete with other friends coming and a birthday party with presents.
When the children arrive, they visit the aviary, barnyard, aquarium, and reptile area, while each child tries to figure out what perfect pet they would want. They take a pizza and ice cream break, open presents, and watch a balloon performer. On the roller coaster ride, Peyton gets wet and is sad when he cannot find his perfect pet.
