5.0 out of 5 stars Economical and Ecologically Friendly! Love it., November 17, 2007

I love my Keurig coffee maker but the cost per K-cup is pretty high and the used K-cups are not recyclable. Ok, no big deal, I thought. It was just me drinking 1-2 cups per day. Then the rest of my family found out how great the individual servings taste, gave up their many weekly trips to Starbucks, and I found myself financing this incredible coffee industry while the trash filled up with little plastic cups.

HATS OFF to the genius who figured out how to put a coffee pod into a K-cup coffee maker! I was a little skeptical, but the Pod Holster WORKS. Now the coffee costs about half as much as before, it is still incredibly tasty and convenient, and everything that goes in the trash is biodegradable. Need I say more?

The only con is that you have to retrain your family/employees not to toss the pod holster in the trash. Other than that, thumbs up all the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great after some instruction, January 28, 2008

My original review has been removed from this site, so I thought I'd try again. My original review rated this product as a 2 due to the fact that grounds from the senseo pod got into my coffee cup when using this product in my Keurig B60. After posting my review I received a call from a representative of the manufacturer to offer advice and instruction on how to use the product to get a better result; so I thought I'd share that information. I was told to ball up the senseo pod so that it was tight and to push the pod firmly up to the lid of the pod holster (push up from the bottom while holding the lid on). It should fit tightly at the top of the holster to prevent grounds from leaking out into the cup. Place the holster in the machine and QUICKLY close the lid, then brew. Another suggestion was to use larger pods. I haven't tried a larger pod yet, but the new techinique seems to be helping with my senseo pods. The coffee cup is not 100% grounds free, but pretty close, and is good enough to drink. Produces a good cup of coffee. Great concept if you can get the technique down. Maybe a more detailed instruction manual included with the packaging would be helpful. I was encouraged to call for any other problems or if I had any other questions. The number is on the packing which I threw away, but I believe can be found through Amazon if needed. I rated this product as a 4 due to the fact that thorough instruction was not provided on or in the packaging, however I did appreciate the follow up phone call...nice service! The packaging does say a pod 55mm or greater is suggested, however, I've been unable to find pod size information on most pod packaging. I'll inspect pod size more closely in the future.

Bought the holster to save money of course on the K cups. I bought the Douwe egberts pods on sale and used them on the holster as directed. I brewed as directed numerous times but the taste of the coffee that came out had a consistently diluted taste. Looking at the design I thought that the base being left open to accommodate the spring mechanism led to decreased hot water pressure inside the pod which was the strength of the K cups. In the K cups the hot water gets forced into the coffee granules under pressure thus leading to a full taste. So to get around this problem I recycled the K cups by washing out the used coffee and after letting the filter dry I cut open a pod and poured the contents inside the recycled K cup (which of course has the cover foil removed). I just used the cover of the holster to act as a cap on the K cup and placed it in the machine. The difference in the taste was like night and day. Try this method yourself to see the difference. The pod holster concept was great, but I think you could use it another way to get a better tasting cup of coffee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny, February 28, 2008
This review is from: Perfect Pod Holster Use Any Pod in Your Keurig Coffee Maker - Over 10,000 Sold
The pod holder is easy to use and lets me use far cheaper pods (I uses Senseo) than the ones designed specifically for Keurig coffee makers. Be sure you follow the instructions to tamp the pod with your finger so that it presses against the top of the holder.

This product really works. It does what it says. It creates a better cup of coffee than even the original k-cups or the kuerig mykcup product. I have had both of them and really prefer this product. Buy one and you will not be sorry

I ordered this producs 2 weeks ago. Well we had shipping issues and I never received it. Costumer care they were quick to help me and resend it. I must say very good costumer service i was satisfied. (As Seen on TV).

I received my product yesterday. I couldnt wait to test it. I used a Senseo pad and it fit perfect in the holster and the holster fit perfect my Keurig. After the water was heated I pressed the blue button and the coffe came out clear (no grounds of coffe or nothing) i was thrilled and excited. I used the Senseo Columbia coffee as a test pad and I must say I like it better than the k-cups i have tried so far. It made me stronger coffe with a smoth taste.Loving it.

I recommend this product for those reasons:

1.you can save yourself lots of money by using coffee pads
2.you have even more variety of coffe.
3.It is enviroment friendly and you dont have plenty of K cups filling up your trash can.
4. WHen you run out of K cups you wont have to search to find new K cups. (went to Target and i couldnt find K cups, if you find them you wont find a variety so you do have to order at some point and spend at least 17 Dollars at once)
5.This product opens your doors so you can simply buy coffee pads everywhere (Walmart,Kmart etc.) and dont need to spend 10 Dollars (18 pads) at once, if you find K cups at all.
The Senseo pads cost me 3,60$(16 pads),as mentioned coffee is even stronger than k cups.
6.If you like the coffe of certain ventors (from K cups), go to coffe for less and order the same coffe you would order as K cup in pad form and you will see that the same coffe costs half as much. So its a win win situation.

Great Product!

UPDATE: I was just reading the reviews and wanted to clarify do own the Keurig B40 Model.
I also found out the other day that i can even brew regular Teabags with this holster. :o)

Hey Everyone,

I LOVE my pod holster. I can use inexpensive pods that don't use as much plastic so I spend less money and less time feeling guilty about the K cup thingies.

Definitely watch the customer video - you have to fold the pods the right way or they will explode. Once you get the fold technique down, though, this thing ROCKS.

Great idea to be able use your own coffee, save money, and save the planet from being full of K-cups etc . . . but it makes a bad cup of coffee. The design does not allow the water to interact with the center of the pod producing weak coffee, far weaker than a K-cup. When the pod is placed in properly the needle will pierce into the pod and flow into the pod, but unfortunately it flows through the path of least resistance along the top and sides and out of the holster making weak flavorless coffee with poor extraction. I can tear open a freshly brewed pod that has been nicely pierced and the center is nearly dry having had no flow of water. Even when jammed full with 2 pods the coffee is still weak. There is a fatal flaw with this product compared to a real K-cup. In a K-cup the water is injected into the space between the foil and the sealed filter basket forcing all the water to flow over the grounds and then through the filter and out the bottom needle and into the cup. This creates pressure and turbulence in the grounds space which does not occur at all in the holster. I had high hopes but ended up with a disappointing purchase and wasting rather than saving money.

My wife's company recently got rid of their pod machine; we have a Keurig at home. They had a lot of unused pods and my wife brought them home thinking they'd work. I hated to throw them out and found this. Wow! No muss, no fuss. Just "squish* the pod into it, put it in your Keurig and it's like you're using a K-cup.
I have to admit it doesn't look like it's worth the money. It's just a little plastic cup with a lid and a spring inside. But, it sure opens up your options on what coffee to brew.
