This is the best poem book I have ever seen. They are high-interest poems with an appropriate illustration on each page. I teach 2nd grade but use this book for my higher readers. I also have the 1st-2nd grade equivalent for my approaching and grade-level readers.

I've used this book with virtual nonreaders in mid-elementary school who initially were very reluctant to practice reading. Perfect Poems changed this. The fun content made repeated readings fun and students themselves requested to try reading an assigned poem over and over until they achieved it correctly. Sometimes they would ask to take poems home to read to family. Excellent resource!

Our out-of-state daughter is homeschooling her seven children. This book has become a favorite of her children, as they build their reading skills.

I bought this and kept it, but I haven't used it. I thought it would be a good way to increase fluency in my 2nd graders, but there's nothing new or creative about it IMO.
