Here’s what Elle Tosolini from Melbourne, Australia, says about Mia’s puppy training: "Mia, you blew me away with your knowledge and understanding of dogs. Thank you for your dog training advice. My dog and I have learned so much from you and we’ll be practicing what you taught us!"

About the Author

Hi, I'm Mia Montagliani. I am a dog owner, dog trainer and life coach. I have been training dogs as a hobby for over 15 years and I founded Your Dog Needs You in 2010. In this relatively short period of time I have helped more than a thousand people with my tips, blogs, articles, products and videos. I am not only a dog trainer, I am also a specialist in coaching people. This means not only do I have the know-how and experience to train dogs well, I am able to empower owners to train their own dogs; there's nothing more satisfying than seeing dog owners develop a loving and hassle-free relationship with their dogs. The secret is all about loving leadership; I am often asked how I am able to train dogs so well - I always respond "dogs love a strong leader - if you can show them whose boss in a loving way, then you'll have an obedient and loyal companion for life." I have had the privilege of working face to face with many dog and puppy owners by helping them to overcome their dogs' behavioral problems as well as enhancing their dogs' lives through obedience, health and love. I am also committed to improving the relationship between owners and their dogs. I own two Manchester Terriers, Frodo and Ziggy (you'll sometimes see them in my training videos and pictured next to my tips and articles). To you and your dog's health & happiness!

Review for Perfect Puppy Training
OK, I admit it. I love most dogs. Puppies have a special place in my heart as I have delivered so many when my children were small and had dogs. So it was a joy to read this book, especially when it is so well organized and thorough.

Mia Montagliani not only knows and loves dogs but can convey very specific and easy to follow instructions for the rest of us. Statistics tell us that there are more than 78.2 million dogs owned in this country and that does not count the stray dogs. That's a lot of dogs. What if we all did a good job of caring for and training our special pets? I can imagine more happy two-legged and four-legged organisms.

The author focuses on puppy care but I had a feeling she would cover the dog's age progression and she does....beautifully. I particularly like the fact that Ms. Montagliani includes things like the "amount to feed your dog throughout every stage of life" because my dog is old now and the more understanding I have, the better I can feed and care for him.

One of the book's reviewers suggested having his children read the book before asking for a dog. That is one smart dad. The book is easy enough for a reading child to comprehend and since it includes checklists and charts as well as definite steps, the family can prepare together if they decide to add another member to the family.

Another concern I have had for some time is seeing how many people try to go viral online by putting dogs and children together and sometimes that's not a good idea. The author addresses this subject well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book November 28, 2013
By Kaylynn
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Unlike the comment that said this is for beginners and is not useful I have to disagree. I am currently on my 4th dog and she happens to be a troublemaker and will not listen, all my other dogs were God and obeyed but she wouldn't, thanks to this book she does. I love this book!!-

2.0 out of 5 stars Too basic August 5, 2013
By KGB
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I've read a number of puppy training books. This one was very basic and didn't deal with what I would think to be common anomalies - hey, not all puppies are alike. There are much better books available.

Really good resource for a first time pet owner. I just wish it had mentioned a few specifics on pugs(how to clean their nose folds, etc).

If you know the word dog but never have actually seen one, this book might be something for you. Otherwise, thiis book will be a waste of money. The book is just too basic and lacks real information.

2.0 out of 5 stars not for those who have had a dog before
This is just a book for total beginners who have absolutely no knowledge (or common sense) of what to do for a puppy. I was hoping for something better from this.
