Book Description

August 29, 2006

To burn with passion . . . to surrender to the power of a man's desire . . . Kathryn de St. Marie's years in a French convent have taught her such things are forbidden. Still the chaste Norman beauty dreams of a soul-stirring love. But cruel destiny intrudes when she is taken prisoner by Scot barbarians—though a kinder fate intervenes when she is rescued by proud, haunted Edric of Braxton Fell, a bitter Saxon lord displaced by Norman rule.

Though he despises the conquerors, Edric can sense that Kathryn is different—gentle and giving, yet possessing a fire that enflames Edric in turn—and he grudgingly allows her into his broken life. For Kathryn's capture has tainted her in the eyes of her people, and she can never again return home. Her future rests in the strong hands of her enemy champion . . . and in a long-cherished dream of a perfect seduction and a dangerous, rapturous love.

More About the Author

As a nice, sane break from the drama and fast pace of working as a registered nurse in an intensive care unit, Margo Maguire returned to college to study history, and fell in love. Writing about the historical characters she encountered in her classes was a good way to unwind from a crazy day in the unit. She soon started creating her own fictional characters and putting them into historical settings.

Margo is the author of twenty historical romance novels. Her books have been published in numerous languages, and have even come out in Japan as manga--animated books. She is the mother of three grown children and lives with her scientist husband in southern Michigan.

Margo participates in Romance Writers of America's yearly Literacy Signing, and does local book signings with every new release. She has given talks on writing and research techniques, and is a featured author at http://jauntyquills.com/, a blog she shares with eleven other romance authors. She is a regular contributor to the Avon Romance forums and sends out bulletins with Fresh Fiction and Eye on Romance. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the Bride Hunt, December 20, 2007
This review is from: The Perfect Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
Margo Maguire's the Bride Hunt is one of my favorite books, so I wanted to read this book as it picks up on what happens to Isabel's sister Kathryn. I have to say that the pace and writing were dissapointing. The two lead characters were not very interesting, in fact the one person who stood out most was the wife who passes away in the beginning. Her story may have been a better one to tell!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Read!, October 13, 2006
This review is from: The Perfect Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
I've been eager for this book ever since I read Maguire's THE BRIDE HUNT - the first story in which the heroine, Isabel, is abducted by marauding Scots when her family castle is invaded. For a year I've wondered what happened to Isabel's younger sister, Kathryn, who was also abducted in the raid. For an ENTIRE year I have wondered! Well, I finally know. THE PERFECT SEDUCTION is Kathryn's story, and the tale of her abduction and, ultimately, her rescue (by one toe-curling, yummy hero) is fantastic! The wait was worth it. THE PERFECT SEDUCTION did not disappoint -- in fact, I think it's even better than THE BRIDE HUNT -- a great book and hard to beat in its own right.

I love a good medieval romance and, sadly, good ones are few and far between lately. Sexy-hot, action-packed, tightly paced -- I devoured this book. Margo Maguire has made it to my auto-buy list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maguire keeps getting better, September 1, 2006
This review is from: The Perfect Seduction (Mass Market Paperback)
Margo Maguire is one of the few stars at Avon these days. She stands out from the rest of their authors because she writes exciting, intelligent stories. Avon tends to edit their authors to a drastic degree turning many of the historical romances they publish into simplistic, boring storylines with elementary dialogue. Maguire, on the other hand, has been allowed to write a fun, fast read, with dialogue that keeps to the period and doesn't jar the reader out of the historical time in which the characters live. Maguire doesn't spend a lot of time on intricate historical background, but she does give a good rendering of the problems that the Saxons had in conforming to William's Norman rule. The plot is fast-paced, and the romance between the hero and heroine is really satisfying, growing from distrust to respect and then love. This is a thorougly enjoyable read. The only negative is the ending. It feels pretty abrupt. But, I sense those dastardly Avon editors at work again, so I won't blame Maguire.
