Surprising!,

Well, yesterday I went to a record store to get the new Staind cd, and since this record store has really good prices, I wanted to check out other bands that might occupy a twenty dollar bill, so, from hearing the "Pain" video by Stereomud on MTVX, I checked out the Stereomud cd...I thought, well, that song alone would be worth it, and when I got home, I put it in my stereo to check it out. Oh! I was in total awe of how good it was! I couldn't believe how melodic and powerful the music was! And how all the music just blends in amazingly! I will listen to this cd for a long time and can't wait until i can blast it in a car stereo! Great music for a metal fan! Cross between Godsmack, Nothingface, Reveille, Snot, and Taproot. All great bands, and Stereomud is a great band that is definitely worth $30. Leave (Back Up) - 10/10: Great opener, shows just how much they rock!Don't Be Afraid - 9/10: Good melody in lyrics and music is just rhythmatic. Old Man - 10/10: So awesome! Total blend in lyrics and music. Music just tears everything up! Pain - 12/10: Guitar totally great! Just blows you away on how good it is! Tied as best song. Steppin' Away - 6/10: Kinda repetative, but nonetheless good. How We Stand - 11/10: Totally heavy and just makes you wanna headbang! Down From Here - 7/10: Sounds like another song on the album, but chorus is really good. Sunlight - 8/10: Pretty good mellow song, maybe a little more heavyness in the guitar would help a lot. Chorus a strong point. Lost Your Faith - 10/10: Very good opening, gets in your head and catchy, but headbanging material. Get Me Out - 8/10: One of the weak points of the cd at beginning, but rest of the song lets you know how good they are. What - 12/10: Best song of cd, just tears everything up and gets in your face. Closer Now - 8/10: Pretty good. Chorus good as well as guitars. Perfect Self - 8/10: Good slow song, maybe a little more heaviness would make a great closing song.

Sterogreatness,

You really can't grow wrong with this cd. It's a really cheap cd and the cd is really good. I was kind of skeptical when buying this album, but just giving it one full listen, it really exceeded my expectations. They mix emotion through great vocals and lyrics, with heavy riffs that break out into great melodies, thundering drums, giving Steromud a sound that is Sterogreatness. What I like about this debut album is that the songs all range around, being different from one another. My favorite tracks include: "Leave", "Steppin Away", "Pain" and "Don't Be Afraid." The album's highlight comes from the title track "Perfect Self." It's a great acoustical song full of heartfelt emotion. Definatly give this band a look.

Totally underrated band,

Ok so I came across this band last summer and was over-joyed when I did. This band is amazing, and very underrated. If you like bands like Sevendust or Godsmack I highly suggest this cd. The first two songs give a powerful opening, setting the stage for the rest of the album. It's bands like these I am grateful for when constantly surrounded by mainstream junk flooding the radios and always playing at nightclubs. A lil shimmer of hope that rock isn't dead.

An excellent surprise,

Stereomud's debut album was an album that I ignored at first. The reason why I ignored it was because I thought "Pain" sounded just like every other new metal single, nothing special. However, my opinion of Stereomud would soon change. I saw them opening for Disturbed, Drowning Pool, and Adema back in 2001... and they were excellent. Completely blew Drowning Pool and Adema away, though they didn't top Disturbed (it's hard to outplay them). As a result of their live show, I became a fan.
This CD was a pleasant surprise for sure; they have a ton of energy, anger, and damn good lyrics and music. The first song "Leave" is excellent. It's heavy, angry, and it's got a lot of energy. "Don't Be Afraid", "Old Man", and "Pain" all keep the intensity up (yes, "Pain" grew on me as well). "Stepping Away" is a bit of a slower song for them, though it's not too slow, and it's excellent. One of the best on here. Now, the best song on here is "Lost Your Faith". This song is amazing, and very intense. As the heaviest, shortest song on the CD, it doesn't lose focus, and they don't let up. Excellent song. "Trick" is another good heavy song as well. The closer "Perfect Self" is a great song as well, it's softer than anything else on here, yet still kicks ass as a ballad. In conclusion, this CD is great. Don't put these guys off because they sound a bit like Sevendust; because a lot of bands sound like Sevendust these days. Stereomud made a hell of a debut with this CD, and it's definitely one of the better new metal CD's out there. This one's worth checking out. 9/10.

brilliant nu-metal, yet somehow forgotten,

stereomud got lost in the shuffle of the early 00's explosion of numetal.unlike alot of the other bands garnering recognition, stereomud had talent, and lots of it, and their music was fantastic to listen to-very reminiscent of sevendust (the bassist corey is the younger brother of clint,ex-guitarist of sevendust).each song really blows up in your face."leave" is a really call out song to everyone that tries to get in your way and "don't be afraid",a very personal song to erik's son, is a great listen."old man" gets creative with the use of sirens in the pre chorus."pain" was a pretty big impact single and a great catchy rock track."steppin away"-dang this song is great.best song on the album.crunchy riffs, catchy chorus, doesnt get better."how we stand" rips you in the face from the opening seconds, while "sunlight" and "get me out" are remade versions of older songs, which come out million times better than their awesome originals."get me out",formerly the osng "pace",is especially heavy in the chorus,a great head smashing listen."closer now" is a really heavy sendoff, but if you flip to track 23, "perfect self" is the nice mellow topping on an amazing disc.the weird effects thrown in every now and then give an eerie sense of wondering what is to come.this record is amazing-without a doubt.one of the best bands to emerge on the nu metal scene but too bad they didn't hang around.great album.BUY IT.

Amazing,

This is a commonly overlooked group, since they did not try to push into the mainstream. An absolutely amazing find on my part, I heard the song "Perfect Self" and "Old Man" and I enjoyed the music immensely. I love the vocals, he is able to show a range of pitches within the album, from a screamer ("Lost Your Faith") into more melodic singing ("Pefect Self") Excellent choice for anyone on the metal scene who wants to sample a new band, won't be dissapointing, I promise you that.

I was browsing through the Wiz one day, and picked up this cd for 8 bucks. Stereomud write really great hardcore rock songs. the plus side is, you can actually sing along to them. or at least, I do. the last track, Perfect Self, is quite a surprise- you'll have to hear it for yourself. if you think the whole hardcore music thing is about screaming and heavy/fast guitars, that track will make you think twice. once again, WHY THE FILLER TRACKS? especially the 4 with the same little tune played over and over.

This is one of the new bands out there that really grab my ears. The song "old man" is the best one on here, but they all rock. If you like godsmack, sevendust, and primmer 55 get this album. I put this in my cd player and just press play. There is no need to skip any songs. The music is great, and the singer adds a nice touch. He can sing both soft and get dirty when he needs to. Bottom line, this album is well worth the money.

...Great,

If you like Sevendust, you'll LOVE Stereomud! Not only does this CD kick..., but so do the guys who are in it! I've had the opportunity to meet the guys on several occasions, and just like 7Dust, they really appreciate their fans. But that has nothing to do with the CD. So back to the CD, All the songs rock hard, a couple are better than others. All-in-all, a great investment. And if you can go out and see them!-JP

that's what this cd is all about. this cd covers issues from being made fun of for who you are to dealing with a strained family life to telling the whole world to go jump in the lake. it's angry, it's hard, it's true to life, and if you're into modern metal, this cd is a must have.this is a metal group whose sound is familiar to those who listen to hard rock, but it's definitely an original sound. if you like metal, this cd is for you. buy it. |
