I own the product (unlike the other reviewer) so let me tell you that this is the Wii gun peripheral that has set the standard as the highest in it's class. The Zapper is plagued by it's design to be held with 2 hands to shoot, while this gun can be held with just one hand and you have the option of plugging in the nunchucks for games that require it. When testing the game with Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, it is very easy to aim with and the game feels much more fun with the gun (in my opinion this is how Resident Evil:UC was meant to be played). The remote slides in and it is held in place so you don't have to worry about the remote slipping off. For those wondering, there is no slot for the nunchuck (like the Zapper) only a slot for you to connect it so that you can hold onto it with your other hand. It feels like your holding a real gun and it has a sturdy feel to it (of course the color scheme might not represent a real gun, but guess that's a minor drawback and really I think the color scheme is fine as it matches with the Wii). Also this is priced fairly when compared to other guns available and the other guns are not as good as you can tell from the reviews (exception would be the Zapper since it does come with a game).

I recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a Zapper yet (or for those who have a Zapper and is looking to upgrade or is in need of another gun for multi-player) and has the following games: Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles or Ghost Squad and any upcoming games such as House of the Dead 2 & 3 and/or any shooting game supporting the Zapper (not recommended for any other games such as Metroid Prime 3)

Note: The gun features a spring kick back (which is non existent in the Zapper). This feature is important as you can fire more rapidly. Before putting your remote in make sure you take off the wrist strap as it will not fit. Not recommended for game play sessions over 1 hour as your trigger finger will get tired.

Update: Any games that are compatible with the Zapper will use the 'Z' button on the nunchuck instead of pressing 'A'. For those wondering this does not mean you can play Resident Evil 4 or Metroid Prime 3 with the Perfect Shot as it is not "Zapper Compatible" (please check the back of any game box to make sure the game is Zapper compatible or not).

This is the best Light Gun Shell I've ever used. Works great with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Ghost Squad, and even Link's Crossbow Training.

This shell is much more comfortable than the Zapper (I own both), you can use it with one hand easily, and you have a more free range of motion since there isn't a big thing on the back of the gun to hold a nunchuck, it just can plug into the bottom of the gun (The Zapper may be better for some games, in the future, but for now I'm sticking with this).
It was built to work with the Nyko rechargeable batteries, so I don't have to take off the grip/battery cover and risk having the remote shutting down or change to regular batteries and waste those, which is needed with the zapper.

The only thing I noticed that some people may consider a problem, is that there is no way to use a wrist strap unless you physically modify the gun yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gun for the Wii, December 26, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Perfect Shot for Wii (Colors May Vary) (Video Game)
The only game I've been able to use this gun on is the target game that is on the wii play disk.

This is a great gun. The spring used for the trigger is perfect. The gun has a great feel to it and once the remote is added the weight of the gun feels good.

My only complaint is the fact that you have to take the wrist strap off to insert the remote. This isn't a big deal, but I think that NYKO could have created a small or hole that allowed the wrist strap to slide through. This will not be a big deal for most users as most guns have this same issue.

Overall.... Great Gun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a great Wii accessory!, January 5, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Perfect Shot for Wii (Colors May Vary) (Video Game)
While playing Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, I noticed my wrist began to cramp after extended play. It was due to instinctively holding the Wiimote level like a gun, placing my wrist at an uncomfortable awkward position.

So when I saw the great review of this gun accessory on IGN, I bought two. They are great and make playing the game feel more fun. The Perfect Shot grip feels good in hand, although since I have a hand on the smaller side, my hand starts to cramp after a while. When playing Resident Evil: UC, nunchuk goes into your left hand and controls the knife (by shaking the nunchuk). If you were playing with the Wii Zapper docked in the back, you would have to awkwardly shake the entire gun to slash your knife. Not ideal.

If you have Nyko's rechargeable batteries in your Wiimotes, the Perfect Shot fits them snuggly (unlike the Guitar Hero III shell). You will be forced, however, to take off the wrist straps.

This accessory looks and works great and makes sense. This is what the Wii Zapper should have been. (However I understand that if Nintendo made it look like this (like a real gun), they would have taken a lot of heat from activists. They still took some heat for the Wii Zapper's tommy gun look).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best lightgun for the Wii, December 28, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Perfect Shot for Wii (Colors May Vary) (Video Game)
Look no further for a Wii Lightgun. Nyko did a fantastic job of designing this gun.

Lightguns are meant to be in this versatile pistol form, other formats that look like assault rifles (such as Nintendo's zapper) are cool but the novelty really runs dry fast as you start playing games that require pinpoint accuracy. It's a lot easier and satisfying to play shooting games with a pistol.

With that said the quality of this particular pistol is top notch. The spring in the trigger has a very satisfying feel (unlike the zapper) and doesn't have spongy feedback. The orange holder on the end prevents the Wiimote from falling (This is actually a common problem with generic Wii pistol periphials with games that require shaking the wiimote). Also there is a connection for the Nunchuck in case you need it (although the lightgun games I've played were just as fun without the nunchuck).

However, I do recommend getting the Nintendo Zapper in addition to the Perfect Shot, not so much for the Zapper itself, but you get the incredibly fun Links Crossbow training game as well, all for $20. Hands down the best bargain for the Wii.

After reading all of these glowing reviews (and watching some on YouTube,) I decided that this must be a fabulous piece of gaming equipment and ordered one; but having been warned by one reviewer--which is very vital--that the length of time between pulling the trigger and the time it hits the button on the remote seems to be FOREVER.

The same review went on to say that he had to jam a piece of plastic into the gun to make it so that the trigger while in "resting position" wasn't as far away since the folks at Nyko couldn't figure out how to measure things properly.

So in short, my experience went as follows: got the gun and put the remote in place. Played around with it, getting the feel and trying to see exactly how the trigger pulls, the weight, etc. Instantly noticed that for my only-slightly-bigger-than-the-average-woman's-sized-hands (I'm a 27yr old guy, for reference) already felt uncomfortable around the somewhat-too-wide, and blocky feeling handgrip. Started playing House of the Dead Returns--the intended purpose of actually getting a gun accessory (besides the zapper)--and noticed immediately the delay with using a spring-loaded trigger to press a rather small 'B' button on the front of the remote.

It just plain takes too long with too much effort to squeeze-release-squeeze-release the trigger in order to pull-off rapid fire shots! When using the remote by itself, I could squeeze-off 4-6 shots in the time it takes to do 2 with the Perfect Shot.

...and modding the remote with the plastic do-hickey? More complicated than it sounds. That'll be a personal mission for another day.

I can't complain enough about this gun. Maybe it DOES feel more like a "REAL pistol", but to me, that's quite a sacrifice when trying to play a VIDEOGAME with it--it's just not the same mechanics/functionality in my mind (and in my trigger finger, for that matter).

I found a third-party [or really FIFTH-party] pistol-shaped gun accessory, that's all over the internet, for next to nothing on an auction site in my desperate search for a pistol accessory that actually works, and that works beautifully. It's much smaller overall and has a noticably shorter trigger response time--that is, once I could figure out the exact angle to get the remote to fit... but nothing is "Perfect" after all, right?

UPDAAAAAATE: There is now an official set of the cheap plastic, knock-off being sold on Amazon. And since a handful of the comments have asked exactly 'WHUT' it was that I had been referring to, I can now link to it here. Hooray!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Gun Solution, December 10, 2008

NYKO is known for making quality 3rd party products...especially for Nintendo Wii. I tried the Wii Blaster and Zapper and they both are very bad compared to NYKO's Perfect Shot.

This gun is very easy to set up, and it is just very comfortable all around. Most importantly, the trigger is responsive and not squishy like Nintendo's uncomfortable Zapper.

I found it to be much more precise and fun when playing these games:
1) Ghost Squad
2) House of the Dead 2 and 3
3) Link's CrossBow Training
4) RE: Umbrella Chronicles
5) Wii Play's Target Practice Game
6) Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
7) Red Steem
8) Call of Duty WAW
9) Metal of Honor Heroes 2

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great., December 28, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Perfect Shot for Wii (Colors May Vary) (Video Game)
These guns are very useful... I have a couple of pros and cons for them though.

First the cons...
1: They are rather light, and feel rather flimsy. The addition of the wiimote adds a topheavy weight to the gun and makes it a slight bit unwieldy.

2: They have used an innovative extension system to accomidate the use of nanchaku or wii motion plus items on the the bottom of the guns grip. That means there is a plug on the inside of the gun. Since the front of the gun has a npotch that helps keep the gun in position while use, it is difficult to get the gun to slide in and match up with the plug on the inside of the gun... In fact after just a day of regular use, i accidentally pushed the plug all the way ack up into the gun, breaking it slightly... i unscrewed it and fixed the problem, and if oyu are careful you wont have this issue, but it can be difficult for children to deal wiht.

Now the Pros

1: the gun is lightweight and regardless fo the top heaviness, it is very comfortable. Unlike other lightguns, it is extremely well fitted and contortioned to the hand. I have large hands, and it is often hard to find well fitted handgun grips on toys like this... This could mean that it may be a bit too large for small kids, women, or guys with girly hands...

2: The gun's trigger si spring loaded and offers a little bit of resistance (about 2 ounces of resistance) which makes it great for rapidfiring against zombies in the house of the dead games or others...

3: the overall compact design and lack of annoying buttstocks or grip holders for the nanchaku, it is extremely easy to acccess the A, +, -, and directional buttons with your offhand, which should be gripping the gun anyway.

4: the gun is great for Dual Wielding (guns-akimbo style) for games allowing for two players (letting you take up the first and second player slots and have two guns, for the exchange of a higher difficulty)

I strongly suggest this gun for anyone tha tis looking for a cheap shooter, but thre are limitations to it, as if you need to have easy access to the "A" button and require teh use fo the nanchacku, this gun is not compatble with the game.. here is a list of games that it is good for and that it isnt good for.

Good:
House of the dead: Overkill
House of the Dead: 2&3

VERY BAD!!!
These games are nto easily compatible with this gun
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil
Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero
Deadspace: Extraction

4.0 out of 5 stars Not sure about everyone else's problems, works perfect, July 21, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Perfect Shot for Wii (Colors May Vary) (Video Game)
After much debate and reading all the reviews on here for the Nyko Perfect Shot, I decided to go out and buy one. I got mine used, but despite that fact, my Perfect Shot is pretty durable and works just fine.

At first, I had a little gripe because I was playing HOTD 2 and the on-screen cursor was much lower than the rear sight, which made me think the gun was not as accurate as it should be. Turns out the problem wasn't the gun but my sensor bar placement, as it was above the TV and not below. When I moved the sensor bar, the sight and on-screen cursor lined up just perfectly, allowing me to continue my zombie blasting fun.

Now mind you, I have the Resident Evil blaster adapter, which is a pretty cool gun adaptor, however, I love the feel of the Nyko Perfect Shot. Made me feel like I was using a 9mm or 45. Although I do have to agree with some reviewers, the handle is a little hard after holding the gun for some time and it does feel a little heavy...but then again, wouldn't a real gun be the same way too if you held it for over half an hour, blasting everything away?

What I don't understand is people complaining about how cheaply made the construction is. Unless you plan on bashing this thing on concrete or against a wall, it should be just fine. Plus, the gun is not glued together, notice the 4 screws on the handle of the gun? This thing is actually screwed together, not glued.

Oh and for those who are complaining it is hard to insert the Wii remote, there are two notches that line up with the two grooves on the sides of the Wii remote, line them up and the Wii remote slides in just fine. You can't just jam this thing in.

So for the cheap price, this gun adaptor works great, I got this so that my friend could join me in HOTD 2 & 3, so I don't have to blast zombies alone. Plus, it's her idea of a date...an evening blasting zombies away. I love women like that!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great accessory, once you modify it a bit, February 22, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Perfect Shot for Wii (Colors May Vary) (Video Game)
I bought the gun because it has so many good reviews, and while I don't necessarily disagree with them, it was only once I made some modifications to the gun that it held up and deserved 5 stars. Just to recap what I did to make this gun outstanding: First off, the fact that it was necessary to remove the wrist strap was annoying, so right at the back of the channel where the wiimote fits in, I drilled a 1/2" hole in the side of the gun so that I could just feed the strap through there. Nyko should have thought of this. Second of all, I found that my hand was extremely tired very quickly while using this with HOTD: Overkill, and I quickly realized it was due to the gun being so front heavy, requiring me to put a deathgrip on the handle. This was easily remedied by opening up the handle by pulling off the blue cover on the one side, and then sliding some stacks of pennies wrapped in electrical tape in the handle to weigh it down. This balances the gun perfectly and relaxes my hand a bit while playing. Overall, once I made these mods, it is a 5 star gun, but because i had to do them myself (although very simple) it is only deserving of 4 stars now. Nyko had a good start, but didn't quite finish the job.
