Book Description

May 1, 1998
When Peter Holland married Sarah Woodard's dear cousin, she was astonished. After all, contrary to turn-of-the-century convention, the two girlhood companions had vowed they would never marry. And when Peter's wife mysteriously passed away, Sarah was convinced the man she'd never met had something to do with it. So she hired herself out as a tutor for Peter's little boy, determined to expose a heartless fiend. But instead, she found a warm, devoted father who arouses in her feelings of forbidden passion. And now that Sarah has learned Peter's ideal high-society marriage was anything but, she must decide whether he is the perfect man for her--or a dangerous deceiver.

More About the Author

Born in Rota, Spain to a Spanish mother and American father, at 5, Tanya didn't know a single word of English. Her first English words, courtesy of Grandma V were, "Many, many lights!" The airport was ablaze with them and hands plastered to the car window, nose to the glass, she was hungry to learn more. Language, she quickly discovered, more than planes or even actual bridges, was the thing that connected us all - no matter what walk of life we hailed from.

Fast forward to age 12: After a tonsillectomy, when the doc advised her parents to reward her with anything she wanted, ice cream lagged a distant second to the one thing she coveted most - her dad's typewriter. And so she began writing at age 12.

Today, Tanya is a bestselling novelist and an award-winning journalist, who friends and family sometimes refer to as "Pollyanna." But the name-calling is usually done with a healthy dose of good will, so she's OK with it. Those who know her best, however, know that Pollyanna is just half her personality (she's a Gemini, after all)!

Her first romance novel "Angel of fire" was published in 1992 for Avon Books. A New York Times bestselling author, she is a five-time nominee for a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award and her novels have been translated into Spanish, German, Italian, French, Russian and Chinese.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly written romance, April 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Perfect in My Sight (Mass Market Paperback)
Six years have passed since her cousin and best friend Mary was murdered. Sarah Woodward still feels guilty over abandoning Mary after her cousin married Peter Holland. Though there is no solid evidence, Sarah is convinced that Peter killed his spouse, which, in turn, led to the blinding of their child from flying glass during the incident.

When Peter advertises for an instructor to a blind child, Sarah sees this as the opportunity to investigate her beloved Mary's murder. When Sarah meets Peter, she is shocked by the depth of emotiom he feels for his son, and the degree of guilt and loneliness he feels over Mary's death. She is even more astonished to find herself falling in love with a person she has been demonizing since 1880. To Peter's amazement, the arrival of Mary has pulled him out of the depths of despair and given him new hope. However, if Peter did not kill Mary, someone else did and they still lurk in the shadows, perhaps regarding Sarah as their next target.

PERFECT IN MY SIGHT is a brilliantly scribed American gothic that brings to life late nineteenth century New York. The lead characters brilliantly portray a pair of guilt-laden individuals, who find a second chance with the other. The historical story line blends elements of suspense and romance into a gothic setting that could only have scribed by a terrific talent like Tanya Anne Crosby.

2.0 out of 5 stars crazy heroine, April 17, 2011

This review is from: Perfect in My Sight (Mass Market Paperback)
The heroine of the book seemed to react to everything with illogical melodrama, more like a five year old than a grown woman. She decides that her cousin's husband is a murderer with no evidence - just the fact that he married for money (something the bride knew in advance). The hero, who obviously is a decent sort, treats his brilliant, blind son with common sense and devotion, but nothing changes the heroine's opinion until nearly the end of the book. What the hero sees in her is beyond me.
