We use Microsoft Money to keep up with our expenses, and there were often discrepancies in the cash account. We decided that those discrepancies were probably caused by the accumulation of uncounted change. So far this coin counting jar has taken care of that problem. We have noted no problems with accuracy although if you attempt to put a coin in and it doesn't go all the way in, that coin will be counted anyway, resulting in double counting when you do successfully drop it in. Aware that the battery can fail, I periodically note the amount in the jar on a Post-It note on the bottom of the jar. It is unfortunate that there is no way to know when the battery is about to fail.

I have purchased these for my mother, my son, my husband and myself. At first, all were amused but, if you "borrow" a coin from the bank it will not be subtracted from the total.

They are a cute idea but be aware that, when the battery goes dead, as mine did after about 4 months, you will lose the read-out.

All gripes considered, it looks cute on my desk and passersby have often inserted coins to see how it works. (They can't have the coin back because there is no way to erase it from the total...)

I have brought three of these, they are great learning tools for teaching your child how to count money as well as save money. Product is farliy sturdy. Plastic jar with high grade plastic top with coin counter.

It doesn't work. It will start counting and then stop. I've changed batteries...used lithium...to no avail. Very disappointed. The last coin counting money jar i purchased was great...lasted a long time. Not the case with this one.

This is product is junk. From the second I put batteries in it, it has miscounted change. It counts pennies as dimes, if it counts them at all. You are better off buying a real coin counter, or just counting them yourself. BEWARE... You will be disappointed.

I ordered 4 of these. The item in the default picture is not what was sent to me. What I got is shown in the 4th picture above. It is called the Fun 2 Save coin-counting money jar. If I had wanted that I would have ordered it. What I ordered was the "Perfect Solutions Digital Coin Counting Money Jar". Nowhere on the packaging is this phrase listed. I did not expect these bait and switch tactics from Amazon.com. Purchase at your own risk.

we were trying to test the counter after inserting the batteries and we inadvertently raised the counter to 3 dollars. anyone know how to clear the counter? tried searching for a manual online and couldn't find one...

I received very fast service. These jars are fun and make you appreciate how much your change can add up. Don't take it for granted.

I wanted to like this. Right now we are using money as a tool for learning math. I thought it would be fun to use the counter to illustrate counting by 10s, 5s, and even 25, and offer a motivational visual for saving money at the same time. Unfortunately, in the 5 minutes we spent trying it out, we had about a 15% success rate at actually getting the counter to work properly. Either it double-counted or it didn't count the coin at all. It was more confusing having to make the necessary adjustments to correct the readout than it would have been to just count the change. The kids were frustrated, then overwhelmed, then bored. I really try not to load up our house with unnecessary and/or cheaply made junk, and this was a strong reminder of why. The item was a gift, and a thoughtful one at that (since we homeschool), so I was really hoping that it would be useful, but no such luck. Now that I see the price tag, I am even more disappointed.

The primary thing my kids learned about money from this product was not to waste any of it on novelty items.

the bank does not keep accurate count it says I have 33.00 in there and I manually counted and there was only 3.86 in the bank
