This book is not what I expected. The settings were mostly the same, crystal and china. I was looking for new ideas with fabrics, flowers and other items to decorate the table for holidays and special occasions.

The photographs are lavish and the styling of the book is excellent, but what I find it lacks somewhat is the practical ideas. The focus is a lot on the china and table service.

This is a clear and concise giude to those who appreciate not only food, but also the way it is being served.The chapters are dedicated to a range of occasions from formal dinners to a children's party (including, of course, events like Christmas and Easter). Photos are breathtakingly beautiful from those showing the whole table to pictures of smallest details. Despite being written by a designer, this is not an advertisement of William Yeoward's crystal or china. This is a truly indispensable book for people who like to give parties. The book has some very practical bits of advice as to how organize it all. I would say that together with Ina Garten's "Parties!" "Perfect Tables" will help you to to make your next party both superb and effortless.

WOW....such lovely presentations! Being a catering professional, table setting details are important. This book is a great place to refresh your creativity.

Although the photography is superb the information presented seem cold and unrealistic. still I'll recomend it for party planners or people interested in collecting dinnerware.

I like it lots. Some interesting views on dos and don'ts in table settings, and beautiful photos. My only problem with these lovely books is that they consistently don't identify flatware, and also most china, linens, and glassware. For a serious purchaser -- and I am -- I would like to know antique sources, provenance and contemporary patterns and such.

This book contains several beautiful table settings which utilize extremely expensive china. I'd rather be taught how to use what I have, making it look great, than see expensive china displayed. Overall the book was good but not as instructional as I would have liked.
