Book Description

January 2, 2008
More "sizzling heat"* from the acclaimed erotic author of Improper Etiquette.

Love is simmering in the mystical Blue Ridge Mountains, where the Killaney cousins are concocting new elixirs in their shop, Lotions and Potions. One night, under an April full moon, the three women are in their mini-lab when an odd chemical reaction occurs. Suddenly three very handsome men show up, one for each of them. The sexual chemistry is off the charts, but are the passions for real-or are they just the work of an intoxicating aphrodisiac?

With a reputation for her fun and sexy short stories, Janice Maynard delivers the goods once again with her book The Perfect Ten. This collection of novellas introduces us to three cousins who run a shop together where they make their own beauty and health goods - Potions and Lotions.

One special night, the stars align, and something very interesting happens when they finish developing formula Number Ten.... Soon each of the women find that very formula seems to play a part as each finds the man of their dreams.

~He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not~

Damian Bennetti has had his eyes on the quiet Diana Killaney for some time. That's why he keeps going into her shop. Sure, the lotions he buys there really do help keep his hands from drying out after a hard day in his auto shop, but that's not what has him coming back.

A little intervention from her meddling cousins has Diana rubbing a new lotion into his hands for him, and suddenly he sees a returned interest in her eyes, enough to prompt him to finally make his move...

HE LOVES ME, HE LOVES ME NOT is an absolute gem of a story! With a shy, introverted leading lady and a totally alpha-male type leading man, this novella was just what the doctor - or perhaps the mechanic in this case - ordered!

Damian is the epitome of the blue-collar, total hunk of a hero. He works hard, he plays harder, and he certainly showed Diana everything love has to offer!

~Movie Magic~

With the big 4-0 looming right around the corner, Elizabeth knows she isn't getting any younger. But that doesn't seem to matter to Enrique Cantilano, who is determined to show her just how desirable she really is!

Who doesn't love a Latino lover? Especially when he is as downright hot and wonderfully insistent as Enrique Cantilano is! This man knows just how to thrill both readers and Elizabeth, and he never hesitates to use his considerable charm. The fact that he has the very best of motivations only makes him more irresistible, as Elizabeth soon found...

~I Dream of Jeannie~

Between her too-high IQ and her bombshell looks, Jeannie is used to men being intimidated by her enough that they often don't even try to ask her out. When Nathan Hardison walks into Potions and Lotions, she meets a man who may just be able to handle a woman with both sex appeal and smarts...

As a woman working in a profession that is typically male (my day job), I completely empathized with the character of Jeannie. Everyone either underestimates her because of her sex appeal or is intimidated by her brain, and for that matter, her looks too. Kudos to Jeannie for seizing her chance the moment she meets a man who just might be different from all the others.

And Nathan? This unassuming hero is the kind of man we all hope to find. Kind, intelligent, and caring but yet he doesn't seem to realize his own appeal. Still, that doesn't stop him from also seizing his chance when the lovely Jeannie expresses more than a little interest in him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its Just Perfect, January 25, 2008

This review is from: The Perfect Ten (Paperback)
Janice Maynard delivers a delightful sexy tale of three cousins in The Perfect Ten.

The three cousins are making a new potion one night for their store when suddenly a loud pop occurs to potion number ten. This causes off the chart attractions for each of the cousins.

He Love Me He Loves Me Not had exclusive mechanic Damian Bennetti shopping at Lotions and Potions for some hand cream to soften his work torn hands. When in reality he would like to soften up Diana Killaney reaction to him. What starts out as opposites attracting turns into an off the chart chemistry.

In Movie Magic Elizabeth literally falling for location scout Enrique Cantilano. Elizabeth is the sensible cousin but something about Enrique makes her think a short term affair is just what she needs. Leave it to smoking hot Enrique to convince her they have what it takes for the long term.

Jeannie Killaney has her story in I Dream of Jeannie. All her life her looks have taken a toll on how people perceive her to be. She meets customer who tells her he has been dreaming about her. Jeannie is willing to see where Nathan Hardison dreams will take them.

The Perfect Ten has three fun, sexy and thought provoking stories. You will feel yourself falling for each couple to find their way to true love. Each couple has some bumps to overcome but it makes them value their love even more. Janice Maynard stories are an absolute treat. You can't go wrong picking up a story by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Romance!, January 10, 2008
By
This review is from: The Perfect Ten (Paperback)
THE PERFECT TEN is a collection of three stories, related just as the three heroines are, and all having the common theme of an apparent love potion that they've concocted for their business, Lotions and Potions, in Asheville, North Carolina.******
HE LOVES ME, HE LOVES ME NOT
This first story is that of the youngest cousin, Diana, who unknowingly sets Damian Benetti's blood on fire. Damian works with his hands in his specialty car repair shop, and the hand cream that he gets at Lotions and Potions is the only thing that soothes his rough, dry hands. When he shows an undeniable interest in Diana and begins pursuing her full-throttle, she's determined not to involve her heart. She is convinced that Damian's attraction is the result of the "magic" hand cream he's been using. Damian has no problem with bringing out more and more of Diana's seductive tendencies, but he comes from an entirely different background and doesn't believe that she could ever want a future with him. He has his work cut out for him in convincing Diana that his interest is genuine and not a result of using her magic hand cream.*****
MOVIE MAGIC
Elizabeth feels that life is passing her by. A failed relationship several years before has left her a romance recluse, focused solely on helping to run the business she owns with her cousins. When she meets the enigmatic Enrique Cantilano, location scout for a movie producer, she can't help but compare herself to the beautiful starlet-types that he's used to dating. Enrique admires Elisabeth's classic beauty, a breath of fresh air compared to the plastic falseness of the women his usual surroundings. When Elizabeth eventually realizes that Enrique isn't the lackadaisical, unmotivated man she first thought, she's even more confused about putting him first in her life and taking a chance on love.*****
I DREAM OF JEANNIE
Jeannie has been misjudged as a sexpot since she first developed at a very young age. She had to work with determined diligence to get people to take her seriously; few are capable of seeing the real woman behind the beautiful face and body. Nathan Hardison is initially drawn to Jeannie's beauty but quickly discovers a witty, highly intelligent woman who is more than capable of taking care of herself. Jeannie enjoys Nathan's attentions and is pleased to have someone take care of her and her needs. Despite the fun and satisfying pleasures Nathan and Jeannie share, he has concerns about the publicity Jeannie and her cousins are getting over their magic lotions and creams. There is a negative incident in Nathan's recent past that he would prefer remain there, but the media coverage the cousins are receiving makes him feel exposed, resulting in him lashing out at Jeannie with ugly accusations. He soon regrets his ignorance-driven actions and knows that he needs to make things right. Is it too late for Nathan and Jeannie?*****
Each of the three cousins in this book are simply adorable and their various personalities keep each story unique and fresh. The young men who are helplessly drawn to them could not have been better written as their heroes.*****
Janice always writes characters who seem as if they could be close, personal friends of hers. Her stories are always sweet but are never lacking in emotion or sensuality. I give THE PERFECT TEN the highest of recommendations.
