Brenda Jackson (One Special Moment) thrusts two women together during a 10-year high school reunion cruise in Perfect Timing. Maxine and Mya were best friends, but have drifted apart. Maxine's fiancE died just before their wedding and now she is facing having a hysterectomy; Mya is married to Garrett, a handsome football star. The women quickly patch up an old misunderstanding and commiserate over various on-board distractions including studly Christopher, with whom Maxine has to share a cabin, and Mya's growing insecurity about Garrett's fidelity back on land. The lackluster plot is all but buried under tedious exposition, monotonous sex scenes and laughably wooden dialogue. Mystery.

Mya Rivers and Maxie Chandler have been friends since they were little girls in Savannah. Mya's decision not to attend Howard University with Maxie severely affects their friendship. Ten years later, a class reunion cruise brings them together. The class outcast, Christopher Chandler, is also attending the reunion. Since he left Savannah, he has become a handsome, educated, and successful business owner. Christopher and Maxie have the same last name, which causes an error to be made in their reservations and they are assigned the same cabin. During the seven-day cruise, Maxie and Christopher finally discuss their feelings. They discover that they have always been attracted to one another. After the cruise, Mya and her childhood-sweetheart husband, Garrett, begin experiencing a strain in their marriage. This class reunion could not have come at a more prefect time for Mya and Maxie. Mya and Maxi forged their friendship in grade school. Along the way came Christopher and Mya's love, Garrett. Mya is a finance executive married to the professional athlete Garrett. Maxi is the college professor who was Christopher's only friend during their school years. Because of a secret that Mya chose to keep right after high school graduation, her relationship with Maxi is strained. Feeling like the town pariah, Christopher leaves Savannah vowing never to return. Ten years later, these four adults meet up at their class reunion cruise carrying their issues on board.

Perfect Timing gives you everything that a novel should offer: excellent and surprising storyline, believable and somewhat humorous characters, friendships gone astray, infidelity, misunderstandings.........followed by thoughts of forgiveness coupled with the inability to forgive, redemption, trust and love.

Brenda Jackson is one my favorite romance authors and this is another excellent credit to her ever growing portrayal of the human psyche.

Two words for Perfect Timing...Page Turner! From the first page to the last page I could not put this book down. Ms. Jackson did a wonderful job with the development of all 4 characters, Mya Rivers, Maxie Chandler, Christopher Chandler and Mya's husband, Garrett. Maxie Chandler and Mya Rivers are childhood friends from Savannah, Georgia and they find their friendship tested on all levels of trust, loyalty and love. Ten years later, the friends go on a 7-day cruise for their school reunion and on that trip, old secrets and old feelings are revealed. This story has no place for major perfidy but will certainly keep you turning the pages to see what Christopher Chandler will do next! This is one of the few books that I wish a sequel could be written.

Mya Rivers and Maxine Chandler have been friends since they were little girls. They were more like sisters than best friends. With the bonds of friendship and love being this strong, one might think that nothing could come between them. Unfortunately, due to a minor misunderstanding, they lose touch with each other and have not spoken in several years. On the surface Maxine Chandler appears to have it all together. She is beautiful and has a job that she loves. Nothing could be further from the truth. She has a lingering health problem that can destroy one of her dreams, and she is still mourning the sudden and tragic loss of her fiancee Jason a few years ago.

Mya Rivers is living her dream. She is married to a man that she has loved for most of her life, has two beautiful children and she has her dream job. However, appearances can be deceiving. On the inside, Mya is conflicted. She feels that her husband may be cheating on her, and to make matters worse there are other struggles within her marriage.

The occasion of their ten year high school reunion presents Mya and Maxine the opportunity to reconnect with each other and old friends. Since the reunion is a seven day cruise, there is nothing but time to strengthen the bonds of friendship.

Perfect Timing by Brenda Jackson is a feel good book. This novel has just the right mix of drama, friendship and romance to keep the pages turning. This is Ms. Jackson's first foray into the mainstream novel arena and I feel that she has succeeded. She tells a great story and holds the interest of the reader from the first page until the last.
