A hilarious and exciting book for readers of any age,
By alex (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Perfect Timing (Paperback)
I am only 14 years old, yet I found this book as fast-moving and funny as my mum did. I simply couldn't put it down, and the relationships and predicaments of the characters only added to its appeal. I have also read 'Head Over Heels', 'Miranda's Big Mistake' and 'Good At Games', and found them as light-hearted and amusing as 'Perfect Timing'. I would recommend any of Jill Mansell's novels to readers of any age, as the hilarious plot-lines and surprising twists will keep everyone laughing and guessing until the end. A great book.

It's time for the USA to discover Jill Mansell!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Perfect Timing (Paperback)
For this genre (and we all know what it is!!) "Perfect Timing" is, well, perfect. Yes, some of the characters and plot lines are a bit over the top, but life can be a bit wacky too. The dialog is funny and the story moves along just like you'd want it to. I like the twist on the story that's too good to be true - we all know that if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. For those of you who aren't familiar with Jill Mansell's books, she usually takes one or two outrageous elements to begin with. To this, she adds a cast of totally realistic and believable characters that make the whole thing ring true. The result is just enough escapism, with a good balance of real life. She also writes solid dialog that rings true, with gentle humor and wit. She's written many, many wonderful books - too bad this is the only one that's available (as of today) on Amazon in the US. If you like Perfect Timing, I suggest trying Amazon.uk for her other books.

A fun and bubbly read!,
This review is from: Perfect Timing (Paperback)
What are the odds that you would meet the man of your life at your bachelorette party? That, of course, would mean that the man you're about to marry isn't the one, wouldn't it? That's what happens to Poppy Dunbar. On the night that she says goodbye to her single life, she meets a charming doctor. She is smitten. It is love at first sight. There is one problem: she will be married the next day. What is she to do?This British romance is a quick and enjoyable read. Keep in mind that this isn't meant to be a thought provoking and literal novel, but one that hopeless romantics could enjoy. I highly recommend it.

Brilliant , but not that good,

This book is an excellent read for people of any age. The twists always keep you interested and guessing! The relationships between the characters are never ending and give brilliant reading, in a book, which once you've started, you can't put it down until you've finished! Altough this is a brilliant book, I feel that one of Jill's other books "Head Over Heels" gives you a better example of how good Jill Mansell can write.I fully recommend this book and any other by Jill Mansell. Hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did.

I'm a huge fan of Jill Mansell's work.. I must have about 6 of her novels and this is one of my top favs. I found her to be amazingly romantic and creative. She can weave a romantic comdedy like very few others can... "Perfect Timing" is a great little gem that you'll enjoy for that easy - lazy days. The whole set - up of meeting the man of your dreams right before you walk down that aisle opens up so many options. It allows for every possible senerio. I loved the pace, charm and characters. It's wildly romantic.. I think you'll like it.

Super Fun Read For Vacation,
By Karla T (Wyncote, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Perfect Timing: When you meet the man of your dreams on the night before your wedding, it's hardly... (Paperback)
I've spent the last few months reading Marketing and Networking books out the rear. Since I was headed on vacation I wanted something that was light and fun, so I asked an employee at Borders to give me a suggestion. She suggested this book. When I looked at it I thought, "400 freakin' pages!@!?@". I didn't think that I would even read the whole thing. It sat in my bag up until the very end of my trip. I picked it up ONLY to make my $14.00 purchase justified and I LOVED IT! I finished it by the next day, all 400+ pages. The characters are fun and flawed and I really enjoyed being a part of their fictitious lives.
As I said, I wasn't looking for a book that would change my life. I wanted something that would make me laugh and would be fun for a trip. This book accomplished it. Its very ala Jennifer Weiner/Sophia Kinsella, both authors that I have enjoyed in the past.

When You Least Expect It...,

This review is from: Perfect Timing: When you meet the man of your dreams on the night before your wedding, it's hardly... (Paperback)
This was the third book by Jill Mansell that I have read, and while I enjoyed it, it definitely wasn't my favorite. I liked the premise of the book, and the ending, but just now how it got there. I thought that all of the relationships that ended in the book were so sudden with no repercussions. And that's not real-life.
As for the characters, I liked the main characters of Poppy, Caspar, and Jake. Other than the sudden ending of her relationships, Poppy seemed like a very real character, as did Caspar. And Jake was just so endearing. I didn't like Claudia or Dina, however, although I'm pretty sure that's what the author wanted. Claudia was very whiny and I just didn't approve of Dina's antics, especially since she was married. Without giving it away, I wish that the story had delved farther into the relationship between Poppy and Alex or at least the future of Poppy and Rita, when they find out that they each know Alex's secret. With all of that said, it was a enjoyable story. I like the ending--it ended how I hoped it would. And there was a small surprise thrown in at the end, which is alway fun. I can't wait to see what else Jill Mansell has coming our way!

It's a great book, but she's written some incredible books that you just can't put down. Great for a light hearted read, but read her other books!
