Surprisingly strong songwriting,

Listening to Nate sing about the lonely travails of (modern) life, I can't help compare him with Richard Thompson -- fine linguistic twists, catchy hooks and melodies, this album is wonderful. I only hope he records again.

The lyrics to many of the songs on Nate Ouderkirks cd, Perfect Wave, come across ashaving been lifted directly from the pages of his dairy. There's a confessional feel to them. We become witness to his feelings, observations and confessions. I't not hard to empathized with many of these thoughts. I found myself nodding over and over again, thinking " yeah I've thought (or felt) that way before. The music is the perfect accompaniment for the "confessionals" never over dramatizing or overwhelming the lyrics. Vocally there were moments when he brought Tonio K to mind. I found the cd to be very heartfelt and a compeltely satisfying listen
