Great music let down by poor recording quality..., May 29, 2003

The second half of his 1988 Avignon concert featuring his best band of the 1986-91 period: Kenny Garret, Foley McCreary, Ricky Wellman, Benny Rietveld, Adam Holzman, Robert Irving III & Marylin Mazur. The music alone is fresh and stimulating, however on most tracks the trumpet and sax are too low in the mix, and the keyboards drown out almost everything, especially in the last track "The Senate - Me & U" (which was written by Foley McCreary - not Prince as it says in the sleeve notes).
If you're new to Miles (or new to his live 80s output), I'd recommend Live Around The World, or the DVD Miles In Munich over this title. However, for the collectors out there, this is an invaluable item, unavailable on any other format.
