The right words don't always come easily. Sometimes we're so afraid to say the wrong thing that we say nothing at all or resort to cliches. But with a little help you can share the perfect message that will draw you nearer to friends and loved ones.
This book offers examples and guidelines for things to say, lines to write, and Scripture verses to share. Full of encouraging messages organized by category--sympathy, thank-yous, congratulations, etc.--it will help you save time while strengthening your relationships. You will find the right words for formats old and new: Facebook messages, emails, cards, texting, receiving lines, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings, funerals, and more. You'll even discover what not to say.
A Perfect Word for Every Occasion is a trustworthy resource for words to bless the ones you love.

Another great feature included are what not to say. I think this is sometimes one of the hardest parts of expressing support, especially during difficult circumstances. We want to reach out, but sometimes are so afraid of saying the wrong thing that it is easier not to say anything at all. Another great section focuses on wedding correspondence - when we were first engaged I had no idea all of the rules and protocol that went along with the invitations and other documents and would have loved to have this book as I planned our wedding.
I sponsor children through Compassion International and immediately knew this book would be a valuable tool when sending them letters as well, and was excited to see the author even mentioned Compassion in the beginning of the book. I absolutely loved this book and know it will be a great resource for many years to come in many ways.
I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I loved A Perfect Word for Every Occasion, so useful and handy! Finally a book that covers every situation and life change possible. Book flows very easily and can sucessfully be read either at one time or in segments. I wish I had this book when I couldn't find the right words to express when someone I knew was going through a very challenging time. Keep this book in a handy place for reference and always know what to say without struggling for the right words. I highly recommend this very well organized and written book to others. I received a complimentary copy from Bethany House Publishers for my review.
Even though I knew and followed my mother's beautiful example in hand writing and mailing various greetings and so on... the world started changing as I was raising a family. Somehow... along the way, saving time became more important than making time to show I cared. Things went even more down the slope when home computers and smartphones became a part of daily life.
This book shook the dust off of my earlier intentions and habits and inspired me to be above average as a book (How to be above average by Florence Littauer)It Takes So Little to Be Above Average motivated me to do years ago. Even though typing an email or sending a text can instantly reach one person or a hundred in the same amount of time... it isn't always the way to correspond.
There are occasions when we need to step up and find time to not "lean on cliches or pat answers to send" messages. Sometimes, we need to "be personal. Be real. Be specific." Page 52
A Perfect Word for Every Occasion isn't one of those books you pick up and can't put down until it is finished (not that type but I did read it from beginning to end!) but it is an amazing resource to keep in easy reach.Read more ›
