Book Description

Anne Stanborough, a well known mystery writer, inherits her maiden aunt's book store, Perfect on Paper. The lawyer handling her aunt's estate is none other than the handsome Jake Harrison, but despite his attraction to the beautiful author, his painful divorce has made him wary of a marriage between two driven professionals. Anne can't let go of the career she's worked her entire life towards, and he isn't willing to make a second mistake in marriage. It looks like they should call the whole thing off until Anne discovers that her late maiden aunt might not have been so "maiden" after all… A love story from the past tugs this couple back together again, but will it be enough to prove that a love founded in God really can overcome anything?

5.0 out of 5 stars Snuggle in for a heartwarming read... April 18, 2012
By Judy T
Format:Kindle Edition
Anne is intelligent and struggling with career decisions that will change the course of her life. Jake is also intelligent, but he knows where his future lies, a future he's chosen because of a painful failure in his past. They face a storm, a sweet mystery, and their own preconceived ideas of what a forever relationship should be. I love smart characters, and aren't perfect, who live their Christian beliefs.

Add in some wonderful secondary characters, Ralph, Anne's mother, and others, memories of Anne's aunt, all gathered in a town worth calling home, along with so many little touches and details, blend to create a sense of realness. Jake and his brother Greg are quite the pair, and I'm hoping there's a story coming for Greg, soon. Learning that some of the stories shared within the tale are anecdotes from Patty's own family added to the charm. It's a satisfying read from beginning to end.

I found myself highlighting several favorite lines and passages. I thought this one gave the best overall feel for the story: "God had no problems, just plans."

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect on Paper April 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
When Anne Stanborough inherits her maiden aunt's home and bookstore, she leaves New York and her floundering writing career for the small town of Charity Falls. Lawyer Jake Harrison handles the business details for her as she gets settled in.

The relaxed, laid-back atmosphere of Charity Falls gradually works on the uptight, driven novelist, and she begins to unwind and enjoy the hometown setting of her new community.

Jake Harrison still bears the scars of a divorce and is afraid to fall in love again, but the dark-haired beauty steals his heart. Jake would expect any future wife to dedicate every moment to her house and children without working outside the home.

Anne discovers a growing affection for Jake as he helps her research local history. For the first time in a long while, she finds the desire to write again - a romance novel based on real-life events in Charity Falls.

When she receives a five book contract that requires her to return to New York, she's faced with a difficult choice. If she stays in Charity Falls and marries Jake, she'll have to put her writing career on hold. If she returns to New York, she'll have to give up the love of her life.

A stranger in the airport helps Anne to make her all important decision. Patty Froese writes an endearing, sweet romance which holds the reader's attention from the time Anne arrives in Charity Falls, to the satisfying ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars An easy book to relax with... April 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Brief overview: Both the hero and heroine have specific goals for their lives. These goals seem to clash, yet their mutual attraction towards one another will not wain -- despite what commonsense tells them. Can they work through their differences, in enough time, to give them both what they dreamed for their futures?

Ms. Froese is very good at setting a scene. I really had a feel for the town and people as seen through the eyes of the main characters. I also think there were a few take-home-values to ponder as I reached the end. The first is, that for any relationship to work, there needs to be a "give and take" between the two parties. The second, what we think will give us a sense of fulfillment or happiness isn't necessarily what will. Finally, as Scripture says... a cord of three strands is not easliy broken. The strongest relationships will have Christ at the center.

Great reminders from this inspirational romance.
