Book Description

Zoe is used to taking care of herself and has long ago accepted that if anything bad was going to happen, it was going to happen to her. So when she loses her job over something most bosses would probably be happy with and her life starts going down hill from there she doesn't expect it to get any better. She certainly didn't expect any help from the loud jerk next door, but then again she has nothing to lose so puts her trust in him and hopes for the best. What she didn't expect was the once in a lifetime opportunity that he offers her through an arrangement where they both benefit and no one is supposed to get hurt, but she should have known better because her luck has never been that good.

Like most Bradfords, Trevor has a soft spot for food, but that's about all. He leads a pretty straightforward life and likes to keep things simple and that includes his relationships. He wants the perfect woman and knows exactly what she'll be like. So when he discovers much to his horror that he's thinking about his frumpy little neighbor he decides the best way to get his head straight is by working her out of his system. He'll keep her around, but only until he finds perfection.

So a while back, April and I read the first book in this series Playing For Keeps. You can check out my review HERE. April and I both fell in love with not only the characters but the story and the writing.

Mathewson has a fabulous way of keeping you entertained.

Perfection is just what the cover calls for. Perfect.

I'll start in with Zoe. Can I just say that I wanted to grab her up and snuggle her the ENTIRE time. The only thing that got on my nerves was being inside of her head and her thinking that she wasn't good enough. Puh-lease. It was so nice to have a "real" girl in these romance novels. She wasn't skinny, have big breasts, and wasn't a fashionista. She was normal and kind and "frumpy". LOL That's what a normal girl looks like dammit!

Even though I adored Zoe, I will say that Trevor did rub me the wrong way in the beginning because he was an atrocious a**hole, I warmed up to him by the end. Not by much though. Mainly because I could see what was going on in his brain.

Trevor is also a Bradford which means they has a HUGE affection for food. Like, HUGE. Which is freaking hilarious. When all the Bradfords get together, there is so much fun to be had. Jason & Haley make multiple appearances which I loved because they were favorites from the last novel.

The interactions between Trevor and Zoe were hilarious and adorable. They had me laughing out loud quite a few times. There was more sex in this book than the last one. It wasn't prominent, but when they turned up the heat, it got quite steamy. Mathewson truly has a way with words.

This series has fast become a personal favorite of mine and I seriously cannot wait to read the next one to come out later this year. I HIGHLY encourage you to go grab these. They aren't that expensive and they are really worth what I paid for them. Believe me when I say that I will be snatching up the next one and more from this author.

Amazon <---it's only 99 cents!!

Favorite Quote:

"You have me sweetheart," he said, pulling away just far enough so that he could look into her eyes. "I promise you will always have me."

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving R.L. Mathewson January 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
this is my second book from author R.L.Mathewson and all I can say is they keep getting better. This story is about Zoe and Trevor(Jason's Cousin).Zoe is a tenant of Trevor's, who of course she hates. After Trevor calls her fat he realizes that he feels bad and decides he will appoligize. They both find out that they like each others company and become friends. After a night out at the bar Trevor and Zoe decide to become friend's with benifits. The story continues with them growing closer as real feelings grow for one another. The inner dialogue from Trevor is great, and there is once again a H who is food obsessed;} R.L.Mathewson is a talented author who really made me care about these two characters and made me laugh through out the whole book. You also get to see Characters from book one in this story, and at the end we again get a great epilouge that left me ready for book 3!

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh Out Loud February 28, 2012
By Larisa
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is just so Wrong. Absolutely hilariously wrong. Laugh-out-Loud more than an early Stephanie Plum novel. The Bradford's are a crazy, tight, real family.

Predominantly told from the twenty-something guy's point of view, complete with punctuation via swear words, the book is diametrically opposed to the usual romance novel feel. Turns it completely upside down and shakes it. Yet you still know the guy is going to fall for the girl, and fall hard. As time passes his mental acrobatics to justify everything going on as anything but love make the fall all the sweeter.

When I need a reminder that guys are so fun and dear, just as they are, without pretense and very uncommunicative about their emotions, I'll re-read this romp.

This was more than $0.99 worth of entertainment.

3.0 out of 5 stars very predictable
The writing isn't that great and the plot is very predictable. I got bored and moved on to another book but I'll return to this one when I'm desperate for reading material.

More About the Author

R.L. Mathewson (1979-Present) was born and raised in Massachusetts. She is known for her humor, quick wit and ability to write realistic characters that readers can easily relate to. She currently has several paranormal and contemporary romance series published including A Neighbor From Hell series.

Growing up, R.L. Mathewson was painfully shy and was known to hide behind a book or two. After high school she attended college, worked as a bellhop, fast food cook, and a museum worker until she decided to take an EMT course. Working as an EMT helped her get over her shyness as well as left her with some fond memories and some rather disturbing ones that from time to time show up in one of her books. When a back injury left her unable to work as an EMT any longer she began working in Residential homes only to discover that she just didn't have the stomach for the job.

Today, R.L. Mathewson is the single mother of two young children that keep her on her toes and enjoy scaring the heck out of her with their antics. She has a bit of a romance novel addiction as well as a major hot chocolate addiction and on a perfect day she combines the two. When she's not writing she's playing online Scrabble, coloring with her kids, or trying to figure out how one of her kids managed to get a chocolate pudding footprint on the ceiling.
