Book Description

January 2002
Contributors focus on the maladaptive aspects of perfectionism and explore such questions as: How is perfectionism assessed and conceptualized? How does perfectionism develop? What is the role of emotion, stress, or depression in perfectionism? Why are perfectionists anxious? When is perfectionism irrational? Leading scholars reveal perfectionism as a personality style with multiple developmental influences that contribute to significant interpersonal problems. Their chapters combine the best current research with insights relevant to the treatment and origins of perfectionism. Perfectionism will be a welcome resource for researchers, clinicians, counselors, and educators who encounter perfectionists in their work and all others who are interested in learning more about this challenging personality style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Comprehensive review of Perfectionism, July 14, 2005

This review is from: Perfectionism: Theory, Research, and Treatment (Hardcover)
This book is a review of the latest research on the topic of Perfectionism by the very Psychologists involved in that research. This is not a pop Psychology handbook - It is in depth and written on the same level as a college text. It gave me the nuts and bolts answers I was looking for in understanding the Perfectionism I deal with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Each Literature Has a Bible - as far as perfectionism literature goes, this is it., October 18, 2009
This review is from: Perfectionism: Theory, Research, and Treatment (Hardcover)
Each literature has a bible - as far as perfectionism literature goes, this is it. An authoritative resource on perfectionism, not a self-help book. Lucid, thorough, as good as it gets.

Pavel Somov, Ph.D., author of "Eating the Moment" (2008) and "Present Perfect" (2010).

3.0 out of 5 stars Two out of Three, January 28, 2010
This review is from: Perfectionism: Theory, Research, and Treatment (Hardcover)
This is an excellent - being both informative and well written- book about the theory and research on perfectionism. It is not a good resourse for treatment options or interventions. The theory and research portions of the book are useful in conceptualizing a psychological understanding of perfectionism, but for the treatment you would need another resource.
