From the Back Cover

His life runs like clockwork. Hers is a spontaneous adventure.
But God's timing is always perfect.

Anna Olsen knows it's time to leave her sister's increasingly crowded house and start a life of her own. Following both sisters' examples, she becomes a mail-order bride, and after a short correspondence with clock maker and jeweler Edward Parker, she moves to Denver to become his wife.

Almost immediately it's painfully apparent that Anna and Edward are very different. Anna is a free spirit who would rather be painting and enjoying the company of friends than cleaning house. Edward is a consummate perfectionist who, on their wedding day, hands Anna a list of chores that need to be done around the house daily.

Can this mismatched couple see past their differences to a harmonious future? Or will their disparate passions create obstacles neither is willing to surmount?

Having read and enjoyed the first two books in The Blue Willow Brides by Maggie Brendan, I was looking forward to completing the series with Perfectly Matched. However, as I read, I found myself somewhat disappointed with the storyline. It wasn't that the book was poorly written or lacked depth of characters, but the actual plot of the story just didn't resonate with me and/or interest me.

FYI: The descriptive "romantic" content of the book bordered on PG-13 at times (in my opinion), so reader beware.

[If you're an animal lover, you may enjoy this story more than I did as it revolves around setting up an animal shelter.]

In general, Perfectly Matched was a well-written book, but I just didn't personally connect with the story. It was cute, but not what I was looking for as a conclusion to this series.

Anna Olson knows she can't stay with her sister much longer. The house is too small for the family and her too. Like both of her sisters, she decides to answer an ad for a "mail-order bride". She meets her husband at the train station for the first time. She is taken to his sister's home to change into her wedding gown. Edward thinks she is beautiful but he couldn't believe how rumbled she looked. Before the day is over Anna realizes how different her husband is from her. Anna is a free spirit, artist, doesn't know too much about cooking or cleaning. You can only imagine her chagrin when Edward hands her a list of what he wants her to do each day and how he wants it done and the order he wants it done in. Sparks to fly. Enjoy the trip, the quirks of Anna and Edward. He even tells her that they can't share the marriage bed for 10 days, to give them a chance to know one another. It doesn't take long before she starts taking in strays. Edward can't stand cats but the one Anna brings home clearly wants Edward's attention. This book is fun, well written, and you may even surprise yourself by laughing.

This is the first book I have read by Maggie Brendan. I had heard from others that she was a good author. I definitely will be buying more of her books in the future. I received this book through [...] to give my honest opinion and review. I truly enjoyed this book and hated it when I had to stop reading to take care of things at home. After all, it was Thanksgiving week and we had company coming from out-of-state.

Sit back, relax and enjoy this well-written book. You will be glad you did.

Anna Olsen becomes a mail-order bride and heads to Denver to meet her husband to be. She's only corresponded with Edward Parker a few times but hopes to form a great relationship with him in time. Edward is a clock maker and jeweler but more than that he is a perfectionist. Anna is very much a free spirit who would rather be with friends or rescuing hurt and abandon animals rather than doing chores. On their wedding day Edward handed Anna a list of her responsibilities around the house. Edward had a list too but what did his say? Can two very different people discover they're Perfectly Matched or will their differences pull them a part for good?

What a great mail-order bride story. One of the things that I most appreciated about it was the relationship between Edward and Anna. The author did a fantastic job bringing out all the feelings and emotions of a newly married couple in a realistic way. After all, what do you find most on a newly married couples mind? If you've ever been married you know the answer to that question. Edward and Anna were two really great people to get to know. It was fun watching them discover how very different they were and how those differences affected everyday life. I also admired how each of them sought to please the Lord in all they did. I enjoyed all the secondary characters, all of which were loaded with personality. I will say, that though this is the third book in The Blue Willow Brides Series, I didn't feel lost at all not having read the first two books. Through Anna's interest in helping animals the reader learns, along with Anna, some history about the ASPCA, which was interesting. If you enjoy an easy flowing story with lively characters (including the animals), lots of romantic tension (all very well done) then I highly recommend Perfectly Matched!

I enjoyed this sweet romance. From the first words of Perfectly Matched to the last, we get to see the growth of two people as they struggled through the highs and lows of marriage - whether by mail-order or by choice. Ms. Brendan's way of showing how marriage is never about one person's desires made me appreciate my spouse more.

***I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of review. The above is my honest opinion.***

Maggie Brendan in her new book “Perfectly Matched” Book Three in The Blue Willow Brides series published by Revell Books takes us into the life of Anna Olsen in 1888.

From the back cover: His life runs like clockwork. Hers is a spontaneous adventure. But God’s timing is always perfect.

Anna Olsen knows it’s time to leave her sister’s increasingly crowded house and start a life of her own. Following her sisters’ examples, she becomes a mail-order bride, and after a short correspondence with clock maker and jeweler Edward Parker, she moves to Denver to become his wife.

Almost immediately it’s painfully apparent that Anna and Edward are very different.

Maggie Brendan closes her Blue Willow Brides series with a heartwarming tale of true love despite misunderstanding, showing readers that God’s timing is always perfect.

I like Mail Order Bride stories. Maybe it is because they portray the woman with such a sense of adventure and trust. She has to pack up everything, say goodbye to family, probably for the last time, and move to a different City and State to marry someone she did not know nor had yet to meet. This is what Anna Olsen agrees to as she travels out to Denver. Anna and her new husband, Edward, are two different personalities. Ms. Brendan has done it again.
