Book Description

NOTE: THIS IS A SHORT STORY WITH TWO ADDED EXCERPTS

Nikki Sands is back! In this short story Nikki discovers that a rare and extremely expensive bottle of Pinot Noir has been removed from the Malveaux Estate Cellar and everyone she knows and loves is a suspect...

When Nikki's newlywed husband, Derek, asks her to locate the only bottle left of the very exclusive, collectible wine of Pearl's Pinot for a couple of special clients, she figures that it's not a problem. The problem that she sees is that Derek seems to have forgotten that the evening he has invited these important clients to dinner also happens to be her birthday.

Priding herself in her organizational and management skills, Nikki is shocked to discover that Pearl's Pinot has disappeared from the cellar. There are only a few people who have access to the private cellar and they include two of her closest friends--Simon (Derek's brother) and Alyssa, as well as the new chef at the gourmet restaurant on the vineyard.

Nikki refuses to give up trying to find who took the perfectly purloined pinot, and as with all of the mysteries this modern day Nancy Drew solves the answer as to whodunnit is sure to surprise!

Includes recipes and wine pairings, as well as the chapters of the next Nikki Sands' Mystery; A KILLER MARGARITA, along with an extensive excerpt from the debut novel in Michele Scott's new mystery series: THE GREY TIER; A DEAD CELEBS MYSTERY.

Books in this series are:
1. Murder Uncorked
2. Murder by the Glass
3. Silenced by Syrah
4. A Vintage Murder
5. Corked by Cabernet
6. A Toast to Murder
7. Dog Gone Dog (Short story)

Very short story, plumped with nice recipes, about Niki Sands and other characters at a vineyard. Likeable characters and a predictable ending.

Over 70% of this edition is dedicated to an excerpt from an upcoming book by the author.

3.0 out of 5 stars More January 9, 2013

I usually like to sit down over a few nights w/ a glass of wine to read my Nikki Sands, and was hoping for a longer story. This was more of a quickie w/ intros to other books by Michele Scott. Does this mean my wine series have ended?

i have loved all the nikki sands mysteries and am glad that another of my fave authors has enough talent to have her 2 central charecters marry and still be relevent.i love the easy cameraderie between her brother-in-law and his life partner and the trouble they always get into. all this and recipes too!it has been too long between books so i cannot wait for the next "nikki sands"mystery. ladyl

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Good Nikki Sands' Mystery - Short and Sweet November 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A short story, compared to previous Nikki Sand's mysteries. But a really fun read. I did guess the "mystery" early on, but it was still fun to read how Nikki figured it out.

This is the type of story that has great characters and a plot line that moves quickly. The whole series is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!! July 21, 2013

I have read the Nikki Sands Series from the first until the last 2005-2012. The books with their lovely recipes, that I've tried and got a lot of compliments for, are like a sweet sugar stick that you'd you not want to finish. I trust there will be more to come and regret each time when the book is finished.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing July 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I finished this story before I finished 1 glass of wine. I had no idea this was a "short" story when I purchased it for entertainemnt on a 6-hour drive. I was happy reading until it abruptly gave me 2 book "previews" and ended. I was frustrated for the entire vacation time thinking the publisher had screwed up with the formatting and insertion of 2 previews. This "marketing" backfired as I feel like a victim of bait & switch.

More About the Author

I grew up knowing I wanted to be a writer. I'm very close to my family and friends and I love being around them. I also enjoy talking with and being around other writers because writing can be isolating.

The other passion in my life are my horses. They nourish the soul and in many ways keep me sane. It's a busy life. I have three kids, write full time, manage the house and sprinkle in a few more responsibilities in there and some sanity (or equine therapy) is needed.

I write books that I hope make people laugh a little, escape from the stress of day to day life and hopefully they feel a connection to my characters.

Something kind of funny and ironic about me is that I don't know how to type. I hunt and peck, so my first drafts have tons of mistakes. I really wish I'd taken typing in school.

I love to cook, but hate to clean--but love a clean house, so every Saturday I spend my day cleaning house. I'm a creative cook and can never create the same recipe twice and this makes it hard for me to get down the recipes in The Wine Lover's Mysteries just so.

Being a writer as a career is a very hard job. It takes a lot of patience, tenacity, a willingness to hear others say you suck, and a certain kind of masochistic personality because as I just pointed out--it's not easy. However, writing for me is like breathing. It's my life, like my family and my animals. It's who I am. It's my hope to connect with others through my writing. I hope I connect with you!
