Paul going back to his roots...,

I'm really enjoying Paul's return to his classic Oakenfold style. This is absolutely a record for anyone who is a true fan. Love the mix from beginning to end!

I have really enjoyed the return of the classic Oakenfold.
The Perfecto label has some high class talent showcased on this 21 song two hour mix. It would be worth it to catch Paul in Vagas at the RAIN Nightclub on a Saturday before he leaves the residency. Kenneth Thomas Feat is one of the top producers/DJs featured on Paul's new label, I can't wait to see what is coming from Perfecto Records in the future. This album steers away from the trash/pop sound in favor of quality underground Progressive Beats. Bottom line: You get your monies worth, Buy it!

Once again Oakenfold does not disappoint. And as for those who commented on the dude on the cover - don't miss out on the genius that is Paul Oakenfold simply because you don't like the cover! I don't know about you, but I'm not in the habit of gazing at my CD cover when I'm listening to the music.

Reassuring, but dated,

Like just about every other reviewer here, I agree that this is a return by Oakenfold to his roots. You'll find the familiar vocals, organic sound and operatic flourishes that made us all fall in love with him in his heyday. In short, this is a set that transports (excuse the pun) you back to 1999, and that's where the problem comes in - the trance scene has moved on, but judging by this set Oakey hasn't.
Not that it's a bad outing (hence the 3 stars), and there are a number of excellent tracks, but somehow the set lacked cohesion for me, and I found the numerous plugs for Perfecto on the second disc quite irritating. Die-hard fans will no doubt love the set, but I was hoping for more.

Once can only hope that progressive trance will continue down this road. These tunes pick up nicely from the stellar late nineties when this sound was truly in its prime -- but they're also completely fresh-sounding and updated in a way that's neither cheesy or trashy. Check out the mix of "Slack Jaw" into "Tease" -- pure Oakie ecstacy.

Oakie is back ladies and gentlemen...,

I just saw Oakenfold last month at Bonnaroo. He went on at 2:45am and didn't finish til 6am. I've seen him seven times now and this was by far the best he's EVER been. So, I decided that he must be doing good things during his residency at the Palms in Vegas. Hence, why I bought this album. I was floored from the first track on. Simply put, he single handedly told the whole world that he was once the king of trance and now he has come to reclaim that title. Whether or not he continues to produce dj sets of this caliber remains to be seen. However, at this point in time, this is the Oakie we've all grown to know and love. I've been waiting 8 years to hear such quality. Enjoy!

Oakie gets his groove back,
By
This review is from: Perfecto: Vegas (Audio CD)
It's about time this top dj has dropped his flirting with pop music and returned to his groove. Steady beats and his trademark smooth segues make this an excellent album to dance, listen or drive to. The almost total absence of vocals is not a drawback here. While the album lacks the current visionary explorations of John Digweed's "Transitions" series, it still shows that Oakie can deliver a good solid set.

Return to form...,

I've always loved Oakenfold as a DJ. He nails that side of his career almost without exception. But as a artist/producer, his forays into pop collaborations have been hit and miss. So I was really relieved to get this album and hear a fantastic trance set that stands up next to Paul's best mix albums. Some melodic stuff, some banging stuff, just a great journey with many tracks I'd never heard before. Kudos Paul, welcome back!

This album makes me want to go to a rave right now. Seriously. It's too bad I have to go to work today and sit at my desk. Tonight, however, the party is on. Thanks Oakenfold. 5 out of 5 Ravetastics.
