  • The Equalizer works the arms, chest, back and core muscles like no other.
  • Participants use their own body weight as resistance and decide what level is right for them by "self-spotting".
  • Self-spotting means the legs can be used to assist the user to perform exercises and/or when they cannot continue an exercise.
  • A simple modification (usually leg placement) can allow for the set to be extended.
  • Equalizers can easily be stacked together, taking up little storage space.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great concept, but save some $$$ by DIY June 16, 2011
These are indeed great fitness tools, but $100 after a steep discount? for glorified pipe? Make a trip to the plumbing department, make your own custom-fit version for less out of 2" PVC, or, spend a little more on galvanized pipe and get a stronger final product.

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad, not bad August 19, 2010
By js1268
I just received my Lebert Equalizer, yesterday. Easy assembly, although I was missing the 5mm allen wrench to assemble it all and so had to dig one out of my toolbox. Also, I had to bend the washers that came with it because the bend that was on them didn't match the profile of the tubes. So assembly took a little more time than normal, i suppose. I used some 'thread-lock' on the screws for good measure.

After assembly, it worked great. It's very sturdy and stable. I keep it tucked in a corner of my living room and have at it during commercials.

Some suggestions: Although I don't mind the yellow, I would have liked it in black. Also, the hand pads could extend the full length of the horizontal top and the feet could be of a better rubber instead of plastic caps. Also, no reason why it can't be about 6 inches taller for us taller folks at 5'10".

Not a bad piece of exercise equipment, overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great strength training tool! May 24, 2010
By Becky
The Equalizer is my favourite strength training tool. I love how portable it is - I can use it in my living room or my backyard, so I never have to miss a workout! There are endless variations on exercises to increase upper body and core strength - dips, tricep extensions, pull-ups and push-ups included. You can progress through the exercises according to your own fitness level, making the product ideal for beginners or those who are more advanced. This video is a great demonstration of the product and its versatility:[...]

1.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy!
I love to do dips and upright rows, which is why I paid $100 for the bars. I am six foot and my back hits the ground before I can fully extend; and, the bars do wobble. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good
I haven't actually used the equalizer yet, but did do a quick test on it. It is much heavier than I expected, which is good. I was worried about it being light and unstable. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Made for short people
If you are more of a body weight row person and you have long arms you won't be able to perform full rows. Also using the equalizer as a push up bar is extremely uncomfortable. Read more
