Product Description

Most liquid detergents do not target embedded odors and when gym clothes are washed, these odors that are caused by bacteria attracted to sweat soaked fabric stay embedded in the fibers. After a few workouts, even the best high tech fabrics typically develop a musty odor. Using a scientifically formulated formula, WINs super oxygenated system directly targets this issue oxidizing the offensive odors and stains. This unique oxy cleaning power eliminates the colored bodies from stains while removing the embedded sweat molecules that fuel the odors that overwhelm the fabric. Simultaneously, these ingredients also react with soil and organic materials in the wash causing them to either decolorize or disintegrate. Once in a soluble form after oxidization, WINs surfactant system washes them away. Two sets of independent laboratory testing indicate that WIN outperforms the leading detergents and specialty products on removing sweat and odors from all fabrics. WIN is formulated to be safe and gentle for all colors and fabrics and works for traditional and high efficiency machine or hand washing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes the accumulated stains and odor from sweating not only from my athletic, technical apparrel, but from towels, sheets, etc, November 1, 2007

This review is from: Win High Performance Sport Liquid Detergent, Super Oxygenated Formula, 21-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
On my athletic apparrel Win does an entirely thorough job and I don't find it too fragrant when used as noted on the label--which says a full cap is enough for a large size load. I put in a half cap (up to the first measuring line) initially, and another half cap when the washer gets to the wash cycle and that's plenty for an average load of wash.

My first test of it was actually not on my technical apparrel. I tried it with normal laundry including cotton undershirts which had the accumulated soil of a Summer's worth of work days, and my bath towels which I couldn't seem to get the stink of years (they might be older than me!) of post cycling showers out of. It took care of all of this, eradicated that unique stink of sweat that only comes from endurance sports, and did a rather good job of taking out the stains from, say, the collars of my dress shirts and my pillowcases which would normally only get worse with time eventually sending them to the rag bin.

My favorite cycling jersey was in that test load, which I had washed after every ride before but was still looking kind of disgusting, now looks brand new again.

The next test was the ultimate. I have a cycling jacket that's over 5 years old, and which I've worn for thousands upon thousands of miles of riding. I've washed it many times, but it was easy to tell that when I wore it again it would stink almost as bad as if I hadn't washed it at all, and after only one ride. I was really thinking I would have to get a new one just because the smell bothered me over the hours I'd spend on the saddle smelling it. Win not only got rid of the smell, but it's obvious that the materials are as clean as they were when the jacket was new, and without destroying the waterproof taping that 'technical wash' detergents are bound to do with all but brand new items. The reflective striping on this jacket also shows a lot more brightly than it did after washing with other detergents.

BOTTOM LINE: When I lived in Japan, the detergent there did a rather good job, perhaps even as good, but the laundry soaps in the States leave a residue that doesn't wash clothes so much as brighten them and add fragrance. The answer to that until now was to use Woolite, but Woolite is too gentle on fabrics that can and should take a stronger detergent. Win is just strong enough without being too harsh on your more delicate items.

I'm going to be using Win from now on not only for my performance fabrics on occassion--because the stuff is too expensive to use all the time--but once in a while on my regular clothing as well.

Great stuff if used as per directions.

I am married to a runner and we both have to take defensive tactics at work and do some weight lifting. Even though I change the sheets once a week, they did develop some odor and we were having to wash his running clothes 2 or 3 times just to get the odor out.
This detergent gets the stink out of everything. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is that the bottles leak during shipment.

3.0 out of 5 stars works great, but too fragrant and bad shipping from amazon, August 25, 2006

This product works exactly as advertised -- the residual odors in my workout clothes and other synthetic clothing is gone! My one complaint with the product is that the fragrance is too strong -- I would prefer a scent free version, because when I get hot when I work out, the vaguely floral scent becomes over-powering (though still better than the smell of old sweat). I contacted the manufacturer, and they said if enough people asked for such a line extension, they would make it. The one other fairly major problem is that Amazon had to ship this to me twice -- the first time, it leaked so badly, DHL wouldn't deliver it. The second time, Amazon tried individually wrapping each bottle in a ziploc bag. They got it to my door this time, but there was still lots of leakage. To Amazon's credit, they offered me a credit for the lost product. The manufacturer said they will be in touch with Amazon to ask them to hand tighten each bottle prior to shipping. Hopefully amazon will get past these initial bugs (it is a new product, in the new grocery store) and continue to stock this very useful product.
