This book is fairly comprehensive. It covers the history, workings, and modications of all 3rd generation Camaros/ Firebirds. There are even details on V6 and TBI engines, as well as the more popular TPI cars. All aspects of these cars are explained, be it suspension or supercharging. I believe this book should be the FBody bible to all beginners. My only wish is that the book had a more comprehensive list of references and parts manufacturers. Otherwise, it's completely worth the money.

Found out that the author was a former editor of All Chevy and Super Chevy magazines, not just a Camaro enthusiast. The information is VERY detailed, including camshaft recomendations that are NOT generic. The chapter on PROM chips and performance tuning is very helpful in properly tuning TPI equipped F-body Camaros. The car on the cover is well known in the serious '82-92 Camaro community. I also enjoyed the chapter on stereo upgrades. This type of information can only come from someone who has actually done the work.

A much better book is the Motorbooks on 82-98 Camaro performance modifications. Although years other than the third gen are covered, the book focuses mainly on 82-92 Camaros. Depending on your need (hard street, autocross, drag racing, or road racing) the book explains what you should modify. Also the book gives good explanations of what the stock part does and why the aftermarket upgrade is needed.

I found David Shelby's Camaro book to be an excellent tool for upgrading and modifying my 1990 Camaro Z-28. The articles are extremely detailed and although some may be out of my price range, it has given me additional ideas on how to upgrade my car. I also have the book by Jason Scott and it is good too, but Shelby's book is obviously written from hands-on experience.

Very Very informative and specific to all camaro's 82-92, this will tell you the best way to mod your car...it also goes into detail of all components of the engine and explains how it all works...from fuel injection to carbureted 5 stars highly recommend for anyone with a 3rd Gen. Camaro.

I found a new copy of this book on racerpartswholesale.com for 30$ less than your cheapest used copy. A new copy on Amazon was $212 for a paperback.

It's great for beginners! The book goes over just about every changing aspect of the Camaro from 82-92. I learned a lot about my car while reading this book. The book mentions a lot of manufactures for parts, tho you may want to do your own research. There are a lot of good suggestions to start modifying you car.

The book has very basic information, just giving explainations of how the car's systems work. It does a good job of explaining the differences between stock and aftermarket parts. But, if you are looking for serious modifications and step-by-step procedures you will be disappointed.
