About the Author

Kate F. Hays, PhD, maintains an independent practice, The Performing Edge, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with a specialized focus on performance enhancement for athletes, performing artists, and businesspeople. She earned her master's and doctorate from Boston University in 1971. In New Hampshire following her graduate training, she directed a community mental health center and subsequently developed an individual and group private practice.

Her research, writing, teaching, and practice, both in New Hampshire and, since 1997, in Toronto, has been directed toward the mental benefits of physical activity and the application of sport psychology techniques to other performance populations as well as athletes.

Dr. Hays is the author of Working It Out: Using Exercise in Psychotherapy; Move Your Body, Tone Your Mood; and (with co-author Charles H. Brown) You're On! Consulting for Peak Performance; and edited Integrating Exercise, Sports, Movement and Mind: Therapeutic Unity.

A former president of American Psychological Association's Division of Exercise and Sport Psychology, she is the recipient of its Bruce Ogilvie Award for Professional Practice.

This is a great volume - edited by a leader in the field and full of practical case studies supported by clear theoretical discussions. For anyone looking to practice in a Performance or Mental Skills Coaching field, this book is a must have that gives a number of pragmatic insights from working practitioners. The style is good, most of the authors are quite readable, and the case examples are drawn from a nice variety of settings (which both reaches a wide audience within the field and can prompt folks to think about ways to expand their approach).

I have a brand new Kyocera Hydro so I figured I could read this book anywhere using Kindle Cloud. No matter how many times I remove and then add to my items, it keeps saying remove and then add-I AM NOT ABLE TO READ ON MY NEW SMART PHONE SO IS POINTLESS...TO READ THIS BOOK I HAVE TO SIT DOWN AT A DESKTOP COMPUTER OR LAPTOP!
