35 Years out: Still the best in the field,
By A Customer
This review is from: Performing Arts-The Economic Dilemma: A Study of Problems Common to Theater, Opera, Music and Dance (Modern Revivals in Economics) (Hardcover)
Baumol and Bowen made this 1966 book (now in reprint) the first and still most thorough treatment of the economics of cultural nonprofits in the US. I have sought data on the field, and all current analysis points back to Baumol: both their analysis of the impact of rising prices on nonprofits and the original research that they so carefully document.

Really a weighty tome,

This review is from: Performing Arts, the Economic Dilemma; a Study of Problems Common to Theater, Opera, Music, and Dance (Hardcover)
This book is recommended to all performing art administration/management students, faculty and management bodies in such fields. The chapter talking about income gap is really pin-point and helpful when dealing with management issues in such institutions.
