good book -- but why the price tag?,
This review is from: A Perilous Calling: The Hazards of Psychotherapy Practice (Hardcover)
I'm glad I found this book -- it is full of thought-provoking essays about the emotional pitfalls of doing psychotherapy work. Essays address topics such as the perils of boundary-crossing with clients, finding a balance between the "mothering" of psychotherapy and the mothering of one's own children, and the price of "caring-burnout." It's a book that every clinician and student should have in her/his library. My only confusion is the price tag -- $145?? The book is good, but the pages aren't made of gold. Buy it used, but do buy it.

I found it to be a good read. As entering professionals it is good to hear these messages, especially when it comes form their hearts. |
