Book Description

0781748712 978-0781748711 February 17, 2004 Second

Now in its revised, updated Second Edition, this volume is a thorough, practical guide to the use of Doppler sonography in evaluating peripheral vascular disease. Dr. Polak describes techniques for optimizing image acquisition and provides the clinical and pathophysiologic information necessary for accurate image interpretation. This edition features over 600 new illustrations, including 197 full-color images throughout the book.

Chapters cover neck arteries, venous thrombosis, chronic venous thrombosis and venous insufficiency, peripheral arterial disease, and imaging after operative and endovascular interventions. Images are linked to descriptions of pathophysiologic processes so that readers clearly understand the clinical significance of sonographic findings.

Editorial Reviews

Review

American Journal of Roentgenology, E. Kent Yucel -- Praise for the previous edition: "The book is packed with the kind of detailed, clinically useful pointers that are usually sorely lacking in the typical radiology textbook ... and that can be provided only by someone with as deep a knowledge of his field as Dr. Polak."-American Journal of Roentgenology

This is a great book. It has lots of excellent diagrams which clearly explain complex topics in vascular ultrasound. Dr Polak is a world famous expert on vascular ultrasound and has written numerous papers in the medical literature on vascular ultrsound. He supervises a vascular ultrsound lab and is also an invasive radiologist who uses vascular ultrasound for performing procedures such as venous access, TIPS, and thrombolysis. He has taught hundreds of physicians and technologists about vascular ultrasound at Harvard Medical School. This book covers arterial and venous ultrasound from head to toe and is highly recommended. This is the best book ever written on vascular ultrasound that I am aware of. I am a physician and supervisor of the vascular lab at my hospital.
