Most Helpful Customer Reviews

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Jim Brown on August 28, 2014
Format: Audio CD
It was the late 30s - early 40s Prez and Billie recordings that caused Bill Perkins to become a jazz musician, so it's no surprise that his love for Prez's playing comes through loud and clear on every track. I generally don't go in for recreations, but the rhythm section is perfectly tuned in to the sound and feel of the original recordings, and Perk's playing here makes this one of the nicest CDs in my very large collection. On each track, Bill sticks quite close to Prez's original chorus, then contributes another of his own ideas .
