5.0 out of 5 stars Perl Absolutely Thumbs up for beginngers
This book is great for the beginning programmer who has never programmed before. Young teens around 15 years of age can be a programmer with this book. Perl can be easy to learn if taught the right way and this book does. For instance, I took a Perl online class, after the third week I was lost and just dropped it. It was because of the way it was being taught. The...

3.0 out of 5 stars The title fits the content
This book is definitely for the absolute beginner. It lays a good foundation about the basics of Perl. The author goes through a few major examples and provides the sample code while he explains each. However, the author then reprints the entire script. This to me is overkill and wastes pages that could have been used for discussing additional material, or covering...

The instructor was using upper level math for all the assignments and instructions. This book uses building games as the foundation to learn, same programming language but taught in a way that can be understood so you don't have to learn calculus at the same time...thumbs up...children as young as 15 and up can and should get this book. Start young bright future...

This book is definitely for the absolute beginner. It lays a good foundation about the basics of Perl. The author goes through a few major examples and provides the sample code while he explains each. However, the author then reprints the entire script. This to me is overkill and wastes pages that could have been used for discussing additional material, or covering the provided material more deeply. There isn't much information in the book since most of it contains reprints of entire scripts and many many screen shots. This book would be good for a young teen who is interested in learning a programming language.
