My 5-year-old son started making designs out of melting beads at school. His teachers encouraged us to make them available at home because this activity improves his fine motor skills and definitely improved his handwriting. After I ordered this big jug of beads, I learned that I could order packs of individual colors -- he uses lots of black and white beads for making rockets and planes. If your child needs a lot of one color, this item may be frustrating because you'll have to sort through it to get enough pieces to make the design. I bought bags of black and white beads from a different web site but would have purchased them at Amazon if they'd been available. As a general supply of beads, however, this is a great item.

My 10 year old daughter is having such fun making Christmas gifts with these beads. She is so thrilled to be able to make neat presents for the family. There are so many that I am sure we will all have many wonderful home made gifts this year:)

Our family is crazy about Perler Beads, and this is an economical way to refill our supply and be able to use the pegboards we already have.

Our daughter was thrilled to get this. She loves making crafts. However, they don't seem to fuse as well now. One thing has changed and that is it's not made in USA anymore. The picture shows it's made in USA, but we received one that wasn't. I doubt we'll buy anymore. Why buy them, when they don't hold together.

I've been buying these for quite awhile now. Compared to hobby and local toy stores -- amazon is pretty cheap!
So you get 11,000 beads which include basic colors to even glow-in-the-dark and sparkle filled ones.
This jar includes 1 iron sheet & instructions -- just pegboards sold separately.

I use the interlocking clear square pegboards since I tend to do BIG oddly shaped art.
There very versatile I've made coasters,picture frames, to even tissue box covers.

So there pretty fun just remember to buy pegboards if you buy this!

I bought these for my 4 year old niece for Christmas. She really enjoys them & it's a nice quiet thing for her & her mom to do together! Overall...Good price & great gift for crafty kids!!!

I played with these as a kid. Lots of fun. I definitely miss those days in creating little masterpieces.

I just wanted to say that a friend's 3 year old son accidentally stuck one of these up his nose! They had to get medical help to retrieve it. He's OK, by the way. The product description has a recommended age of 5 years and up. Please make sure to follow those rules! I don't know if this situation could have happened to a 5 year old child, but please make sure to be extra careful when using this product around children at any age, just to be on the safe side :).
