Perloo the Bold is a wonderful read-aloud! I'm a 4th grade teacher, and this book has my students on the edge of their chairs. For many of my students, this is their first experience with this type of fantasy. The idea of a different world with unfamiliar creatures was difficult for some to grasp at the beginning, but now they can hardly wait for the next reading, and don't want me to stop! Perloo is an endearing, reluctant hero. I really love the fact that he diverts a war without bloodshed. Perloo is true to himself and a wonderful sense of integrity that is very refreshing. "Perloo the Brave" left me wanting to read more about his adventures. This book was complex and creative enough to hold an adult's attention, and understandable enough to engage children. I highly recommend this enjoyable book.

Once again, Avi has woven a tale rich in characters, action, and cliffhangers. I'm a teacher and I like to give my students choices in their reading. Perloo was a very popular choice and all 35 copies that I had on hand went quickly. Most (if not all) of the students enjoyed Perloo. I found that students who normally don't like to read were engrossed in this story. Overall, Perloo was a big hit! Enjoy!

I am a librarian in the small town of Parachute, Colorado. I have story time every Tuesday and Thursday. Perloo has turned out to be a story loved by 2nd-5th graders. We discuss vocabulary before each reading and settle in to a great escape in the land of Montmers and Felberts. Avi is a master storyteller who draws a picture in your mind. Hi! I had to read this book for school because of this thing called a reading log, and I happened to write a poem about it. Hope you enjoy!

Title: The Adventures of Perloo

Perloo the Montmer stays snug in his bed,
When suddenly, a visitor comes; cold and unfed

Her name is Lucabara, and she has news to say,
While lazy Perloo just wants to get away.

"You are the new Granter," Perloo is told,
But he can't believe it, he tries to stay bold.

Unwilling, he objects- Lucabara is surprised,
"I don't want to be Granter, it is my mind."

Back at Central Tribe Burrow, three Montmers are plotting,
All of them want to be Granter, but it's just not working.

Their names are Berwig, Gumpel, and Senyous,
All of them who are mean, sly, and jealous.

But finally Berwig becomes the beloved Granter,
And lies that innocent Perloo is a mere traitor.

And so Perloo has to start his incredible journey,
With nothing to eat; all tired and hungry.

With Lucabara, he hops into the storm,
While nothing else is to be seen- not even a worm.

Later on, they encounter the Felbarts,
The Montmers' true enemies, all with cold hearts.

Each group's armies are ready to fight,
Staring into eachother's eyes, trying to give fright.

However, Perloo miraculously saves the day,
Wnat to know how? Then read this book today!

Avi is a truly wonderful author. I liked the way he used his characters throughout the book, who each had a different personality. I additionally liked the way how Perloo changed from the beginning to the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who merely loves reading. However, I should say that the ending was sort of lame. But, it still was a good story.

Perloo the bold is a great book and I just want to let you know if you read a review that came before mine and it said that Perloo is a mouse, that is so wrong. Perloo is a motmer, a rabbit-like creature with long ears, whiskers, and big feet. Jolaine asked Perloo to be the Grantor and she gave him the proclamation that he was to be Grantor. Berwig rips the proclomation in half and sends his guards to kill Perloo. From then on it's an epic chase which involves Perloo falling into a Felbart cave and trying to get them to help him. I would just like to say again that Perloo is a great book.

This is a wonderful book. There are amazing descriptions of the characters and settings. Great ideas of strategy and war. I like the way Avi made the characters a cross between humans and rabbits, and they have a king. This book makes me think of other books about rebels against injustice.

I think that Perloo is a good book because it is exciting and you don't know what's going to happen next. I don't think this book is good for young kids because it talks about bloodshed. What I mean is that teachers should not read this book to little kids. Any way, the story is about a Montmer named Perloo, who gets proclaimed granter. But a greedy Montmer wants to become granter. Then Perloo is captured by their arch enemy, the Felbarts. I think you should read this book because it's funny and exciting.

This book is amazing! For fantasy lovers like me, this is the right book for you! It has talking rabbit-like creatures called Montmers and wolf-like creatures called the Ferbarts. It also has adventure in it and conflict, too. Don't forget the sayings that Mogwat the Magpie made. They were wise and true.

Now to get you a little into the book. It's about a Montmer named Perloo who is chosen as the successor of the late Granter Jolaine. The surprised Perloo refuses to accept the big job, and soon he gets locked up in the Central Tribe's prison cell by the orders of Jolaine's greedy son, the terrible and lazy Berwig the Big. He was mad that he was not choosen as granter because he had been waiting for this job for so long. Berwig soon becomes granter and wants to get rid of the annoying first assistant, Senyous, and trying to gain popularity by starting a war aginst the wolf-like enemies the Montmers hate so much. You can just call them the Felbarts. Perloo is trying to end this war and Lucabara wants to protect the proclamation Jolaine made to say that Perloo will become Granter. Soon they both get captured by the Felbarts, and what shall become of them? If you are wanting to find out, just read this book and you will find out about everything about this book.

I liked this book and you might too.

Perloo, a quiet `Montemer' , a rabbit like animal would be content to sit at home and read. However, one day, he wakes up to find that his life has changed. He journeys trough snowy mountains and enemy caves that take him further from his warm beloved burrow and books than he has ever been before. On his journeys Perloo learns that he must do things his own way. In his own way he ends up changing Montemer history. This adventurous and creative story will have you feeling bold and ready to take your own journey.

I really enjoyed this book. It had a good plot, and I liked the end where Perloo ended dictatorship! A must read!
