Perma-Guard Diatomaceous Earth DE Food Grade 50 lb bag

I have used diatomaceous earth for about 20 years now and continue to discover new uses. This product is food grade, which means you can use it in all your stored grains, beans, pastas, flours, etc. It is edible, therefore safe for any dry product you wish to keep bug-free. You can add it to your pet's food and keep them intestinal pest free. Add to poultry, swine, rabbit and large stock feed as well. Side benefit is the DE passes through the animal, does it's work ridding the animals of intestinal pests, and then damages flys and other firm bodied bugs and insects, keeping the fly population down!

"Dust" it around the garden beds freely, safe to eat produce immediately! (you don't need gloves, but don't inhale the dust--not toxic but it can be irritating)KILLS earwigs, grasshoppers, armor bugs and any other pests with waxy bodies. DE is a MECHANICAL pesticide, therefore they never develop an immunity to it. The diatoms are sharp (microscopic) and scratch the body of the insect, causing it to dehydrate and die. NOT instant, but effective. Water/rain does not adversely affect the DE, it simply dries out and continues to work. More bang for your buck. You can apply it any time of the day, any day of the year that you have pests. Problem with ants? Sprinkle DE around the area they are nesting or along the trail of ants. They take the dust back "home" with them on their legs and feet.

Dust liberally around problem areas and see how quickly your infestations disappear. Slugs and snails are affected differently as they get "gummed up" when they travel across the dust. I keep a shaker handy and shake it on any roaming slugs or snails in the morning when I first go out to the garden or patio. If you see slime trails you can follow them and dust around the moist areas so the slugs or snails have to "cross the line" when they emerge.

I also put 1/2 teaspoon in my oatmeal in the morning (and my husband's coffee) for good intestinal health. It is nearly indistinguishable in foods and barely perceptible in liquid drinks. Just stir it in, and stir if the beverage sets awhile before consumption.

Most importantly, it does NOT harm earthworms, is non-toxic to fish, water systems, lakes, streams, etc.

IF youhave pets you can also "dust" them to rid of fleas, ticks, etc. You can also sprinkle on carpets to kill fleas, spiders, mites, etc.. Vacuums up easily. Just give it a day or two to do the job.

In my opinion, this is the single most important product for protecting my garden and my health.

Perma-Guard Diatomaceous Earth DE Food Grade works effectively externally to get rid of fleas. It takes effort and patience, but it also clears worms and other parasites from dogs between 7 - 45 days. My one chi is over 45 days now, and I am not certain if it is over yet, but it seems to be. Not a chemical or pesticide, it is also for garden and humans, too. This is food grade, not pool grade. Pool grade will probably kill you; be sure to purchase food grade - it is harmless; follow directions.
Great price on Amazon - but the shipping $$$ is high, IMHO. Bottom line: good product, good price, no pesticides. My little chi gets seizures from chemicals, and my 55lb. dog is 15 years old, and I am happy not to give either of them chemicals or poisons, which ultimately effect us, too. READ DIRECTIONS, follow them and you will be pleased.

With all the concern of late with chemical means to control insect pests and how they affect the environment, I thought this would be a good test to see how well a non-chemical method of insect control works. It has been exceptionally effective. I have dogs and earlier this year they got fleas. Since this is non-toxic I could dust my dogs and the dogs bedding with it. I saw an immediate drop in the number of fleas. Since it doesn't linger like a toxic chemical does in my dogs bodies, which has got to be better for the dogs let alone the environment, it took more than one application. It was definitely worth it. When my current supply runs out.. I'll be getting more!

I am happy to say that my dogs are flea free and healthy!

This diatomaceous earth is FANTASTIC!!! We have already used it for: daily additive for our kitty (and 1 doggie) childrens' food (2 tablespoons for 1 cup of food is the formula I use), EXCELLENT flea/tick and ear mite powder, wonderful carpet flea killer AND great smoothie additive for HUMANS (I use 1 large tablespoon for 2 cups' liquid as my formula). One of our kitty children is a very tiny tabby girl who was a feral litter's "runt". Where other worming meds have failed, this diatomaceous earth is WORKING! This D.E. seems to work as an internal anti-parasitic (the diatoms' exoskeletons in this powdered earth basically CUT up worms, fleas, ticks and mites). She is gaining weight finally and even her mouth infection is clearing up. The other cat children aren't scratching hardly anymore and the ear mites seem to be a thing of the past! (I put just a pinch of this diatomaceous earth into the ears of the "kids"; the D.E. seems to get rid of the ear mites nicely!) This is a wonderful flea powder, too...the fleas literally FLEE! For HUMAN use? Putting 1 large tablespoon of this D.E. powder into a smoothie once a day appears to be helping with my man's blood pressure. Since using this in our smoothies, his blood pressure has dropped 10 points! In a nutshell? This is a WONDERFUL and very multipurpose product for ALL!

I highly recommend Ag Organics, I had a problem, mostly UPS, with a damaged 50 lb. bag of DE. I contacted Ag Organics, they were extremely prompt, courteous and respectful. I received the damaged bag on 7-7-11 and received the replacement on 7-13-11, with no problems. It is so nice to do business with a company that cares about their customers. I would do business with them again.

Since putting D-earth around the house the earwig, ant, and other creepy crawler invasion has stopped completely. I bought it for these little beetle bugs (can't recall the name) but they have also left town to annoy someone else. The best part is it's safe for my dogs. If they lick at it - no harm done! (because it's "food grade" it's actually good for them). Wish I'd have found this sooner!

This is the BEST, safe pest control that I know of. It can be ingested by humans and pets with no ill effects. Just be careful not to kill beneficial insects.

This is a huge and heavy bag of food grade DE, and you need to keep in mind, when figuring the price, that the shipping costs about the same as the product. This sounds bad, but when you consider that you either can't buy this locally at all, or that if you can find it, under ONE POUND of it costs $17.00, that nearly $60 price for 50 lbs (including the shipping charges) starts to sound downright cheap. I split it with a friend who rescues kittens and cats and needs it for flea and parasite eradication. DON'T buy the DE you can get for swimming pools for the same purpose or you may kill your kitties! Yes it's cheaper and yes you can get it at Home Depot or Lowes etc., but I prefer living kitties, not dead ones! The hardware store DE has chemicals in it that are toxic.

This works fine to get rid of fleas (but don't expect them to drop dead upon touching the powder--it takes longer than that) and it is non-toxic (food grade DE is even used internally for parasite control in people). It also works great to kill algae in my fountain.

So if you want a good price for DE, find a friend (or several) and split the cost and order this one.

When I first moved in, I had a relatively mild flea infestation in my house and yard, which then spread to my two dogs. Between diatomaceous earth, Frontline (just one treatment), and some probably completely ineffective treatments like orange peel spray, something got rid of all the fleas within a month. I'm thinking the DE must have had some effect since Frontline would have a hard time killing fleas in the yard. Still no fleas six months later.

Got here nice and speedy.
Plus it actually worked. We used this product to help get rid of a flea infestation after we had tried everything else in the book (including harsh chemical powders).
We are not flea free and we did it without breathing in crazy chemicals. Yay for Diatomaceaous earth!
