5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensable
I purchased the Perma-Lok needle for tying turk's head knots from paracord, and I couldn't be happier with how well it has worked. Tying complicated knots like a turk's head, would be a major hassle, if not nearly impossible without a proper lacing needle. The needle is well constructed, but there's not much that can go wrong with a solid piece of brass. When properly...

1.0 out of 5 stars Too small for paracord
Wish I had better luck. I spent about an hour cutting paracord with a hot knife at an angle and trying to get it to fit into that microscopic threaded hole. Got it to work once for a few minutes, but then it pulled right out, halting my project. Paracord is at least twice the diameter of the Jumbo threads. Seems like if you're gonna call something a JUMBO, that it...

When properly attached (by cutting the end at a sharp angle and sealing with a lighter, then screwing into the end of the needle) it's very difficult to pull the cord out by accident, if not pretty much impossible, never had it happen. Making decorative knots has never been easier since purchasing this product, and if you're interested in the hobby, I highly suggest buying one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, No instructions, January 24, 2011

This review is from: Perma Lok Jumbo Lacing Needle-For 1/8", 5/32" Or 1/4" Lace
I bought this based on a recommendation from another website to use with 550 cord/parachute cord. I had no idea on how to make the cord lock into the needle and there were no instructions. It was very easy and took much less time to actually accomplish then it took to find instructions. Heat up a blade, one you don't care about, slice the end of the 550 cord (or any nylon/synthetic cord) at a 45 degree angle and just screw it into the hole at the open end of the needle while the cord is still hot. Hope that helps. The needle itself is very strong and durable. Great for weaving have cords.

5.0 out of 5 stars i like it, July 6, 2011

i have tied 2 successful turks head knots without this gadget and it took a lot of time. this needle makes this type of knot so much easer. paracord does require that you cut the end at a sharp angle before heating the end up. being that this needle is brass i wonder how long before the threadsl strip out.

update.i tried what P. Holt suggested in his review of this lacing needle and it works much better.

Got it to work once for a few minutes, but then it pulled right out, halting my project. Paracord is at least twice the diameter of the Jumbo threads. Seems like if you're gonna call something a JUMBO, that it could have a little size to it. I bought two and they are totally unusable for paracord.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice item, but too small for 550, February 6, 2012
This review is from: Perma Lok Jumbo Lacing Needle-For 1/8", 5/32" Or 1/4" Lace
nice item, but too small for 550. The needle is 2 1/4" long by 1/8" thick, the inner threaded area is 3/16" and no matter how you melt the paracord it is just too small an opening to get any type of bite. I would say that I wasted money on this item as im sure i can use it for something else... just wish the information would have been more clear before i ordered it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cannot fit 1/8" paracord, January 16, 2012

I don't see how, regardless of how it is cut and melted, you could ever fit a 1/8" paracord or ANY cord, leather, etc in this needle, let along 1/4"! It is a cool needle, but it is like 1/16" wide so I don't see how you could fit any of the sizes it mentions into it. Don't buy for paracord.

5.0 out of 5 stars works well with paracord, January 11, 2012

Like many others I've gotten into paracord weaving recently and this product really works. Other reviewers have said the diameter is too small but I haven't had any issues. This is one of the tools Stormdrane uses to create some pretty amazing things.

3.0 out of 5 stars Get a size up, January 11, 2012

This review is from: Perma Lok Jumbo Lacing Needle-For 1/8", 5/32" Or 1/4" Lace
I purchased both the 1/8" and 1/4" perma lock.
While these can are well made, buy a SIZE UP.
I'm not sure if I will ever use the 1/8" perma lock due to size, but the 1/4" perma lock works for 3/32" tether cord. I will buy a larger size perma lock for paracord, or try to find another brand.

2.0 out of 5 stars Perma-Loc Needles, January 5, 2012
By

This review is from: Perma Lok Jumbo Lacing Needle-For 1/8", 5/32" Or 1/4" Lace
The largest of the needles seems to be too small to work comfortably using 500 para-cord the others are, for my purposes, unusable. I have put them all aside and now make my own from crocheting needles bought at WalMart and a couple of sizes of internal thread cutters from Home Depot. The basic cost is a bit more but you make up for that in the usefulness of the the tool you can produce.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too small for paracord, December 9, 2011

Like many of the other reviewers, I bought this to use for para cord, and like some of the others I think it's too small. Maybe If I cut the cord on an angle and burn the end, I should be able to get enough inside the needle to get some use out of it.
