From Library Journal
The authors of Permanent Parisians have attempted the same treatment of cemeteries in New York City. Whether New Yorkers are not as outre as Parisians nor as infamous, something is missing in this volume. Surpisingly, the Borough of Richmond (Staten Island) is omitted. Also left out are some of the oldest cemeteries in the area, whose tombstones and monuments are fascinating. Arrangement is by cemetery within an area. The very well known get pages of chatty biographical information; the rest get short shrift. Despite some reservations, recommended. Paula M. Zieselman, Sarah Lawrence Coll. Lib., Bronxville, N.Y.
