Although sold for automobile bulb sockets (for which it works great), this product is actually silicon grease. "Dielectric" means that the silicon grease is an electronic insulator. See also Fantasea Silicon Grease Lubricant, "for all types of O-Rings"

Although ordinary automotive grease is very damaging to rubber products, silicon grease is great for ANY rubber products, and for use on ANY electronic connection (other than high-voltage switches). Not only does silicon grease prevent corrosion at electrical contacts, it also improves existing contacts.

THE DREADED BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH
After about 5 years of flawless operation, recently I got a "blue screen of death" on my computer, mentioning a parity-check error. Attempts to restart the computer just brought up the same "blue screen of death"---I could not even get to the minimal Windows configuration for trouble-shooting. I removed the memory boards, cleaned the contacts with isopropyl alcohol, applied a thin layer of silicon grease to the contacts on the memory boards, and reinstalled the memory. Since then (a year ago), the computer works perfectly.

More recently my other (ca 10-year-old) computer has been getting progressively flakier for about 5 years---if I opened and closed several demanding applications and/or surfed the web extensively---a lockup or crash was likely---so I routinely rebooted several times a day to avoid the lockups/crashes. Occasionally, even freshly booted up, I could not access certain files or folders (the only solution was to clear the recycle bin, delete the file or folder, and then restore it from the recycle bin). Running registry repair programs and other diagnostics did not help.

I purchased this Dielectric tuneup grease a week or so ago to use during the tuneup of my car. This was to be the first tuneup I had ever done, so I wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly. For those who don't know what this is or how to use it properly, dielectric grease is used during the installation of new spark plug boots. It is NOT (as I first thought) a product to ensure proper conductivity between the spark plugs themselves and the wires. It is used around the very edges of the spark plug boot to prevent arcing, and therefore should be used sparingly. Dielectric grease is an insulator, and will not help (and may hinder) the electric connection between plugs are wires.

This is a small tube, but is more than enough to last through several tune ups. It's sitting in my trunk along with the rest of my car-related tools, and will stay there until needed next. Overall? Highly recommended.

Not a lot to say about this except it works. I held off providing review comments for a couple months to verify that no corrosion has begun to work into the vehicle's battery terminal, which would indicate a failure in coverage or the grease itself. So far, the terminals look exactly like they did when new, so I consider it a winner.

The container is small, but then again you don't need a ton of grease, either. I would estimate this tube as sufficient to protect at least a few dozen car batteries, all mating surfaces, so for most DIYers it's as good as lasting 'forever'.

Followup after two years: still in service, still clean (no corrosion on the terminals). I am very pleased with this grease and would glady re-purchase if I were to run out (but that's unlikely given how little is needed).

This worked as it should have. I used it along with new coil packs and plugs for my F-150 and, well, the truck is still running! I still have some left, but if I ever ran out and needed more, I would purchase it again.

I Hope this review helps in your decision making process and please be sure to rate it if it did! Thanks for reading!

This size of dielectric grease is perfect for application to prongs between plugins when working on a motorcycle. I used it for a new stator and rectifier install, I have never got a more steady voltage. It may be a combination of things, but I know a big one is this grease, and it helps those old worn connectors slide right into place.

(Updated for current prices) I have used Permatex products for years. I have no complaints about the quality of this grease, however, at the current price of $3.49 for a .33 oz. tube, you're paying $10.58/oz. Even bought in the 6-pack, it's $8.24/oz. One 5.3 oz. tube of NovaGard G662 is $2.30/oz. To put it another way, you would have to buy 16 tubes of Permatex to almost equal one $12.18 tube of NovaGard, and that would cost you $55.84!!! (Or I guess you could buy 3 6-packs and "only" pay $48.96!) Selling this miniscule amount in the packaging that it comes in is the same as all of the complaints you read on amazon about the sometimes ridiculous amount of packing and box sizes that small products are sometimes received in. So, 5 stars for the product, 1 star for the tiny amount you receive for the price paid. By the way, for the unaware, dielectric grease is silicone lubricant. It's perfect for plastics because it doesn't break down the plastic material. It's also excellent for applying to the base of light bulbs so that they're much easier to remove when they burn out. You'll find uses for this stuff, so why not buy it in bulk and save a huge amount of money? Plus, the bigger tube is much easier to work with.
