The very good...
This is a very efficient neurotoxin used for killing insects and it does an EXCELLENT job. Honestly, I don't know if it should be delivered to my state because they usually ban anything this effacious. I've used it for the past 5 years on my home and have seen about 3 spiders and two ant trails during that time (though never in exactly the areas where I sprayed the product). Read the directions, use gloves, dont put it in a sprayer that mixes with other chemicals, use carefully and it does a great job.

Not so good/warning...
On my 5th year of using this product, I was married. I sprayed indoors. I knew it was slightly toxic to people, so I sprayed lightly in areas where people don't usually walk, thinking it would be safe enough. However, I failed to re-read the warning instructions. Apparently this product is EXTREMELY toxic to cats. My wife's little tabby showed signs of distress within 2 hours of walking across a surface that had been sprayed and needed to be taken to the vet for emergency shots. (They lick themselve to get clean and she must have ingested some of the oil after getting sticky paws.) We immediately washed every surface inside that had been sprayed. However, the cat had minor neurological damage that didn't go away for WEEKS afterwards. If you intend to kill cats, spray liberally anywhere they will come into contact with this stuff. (Being sarcastic... I do not endorse felinocide.)

I bought this product to rid ticks from my lawn area. I live in Maine in a wooded area and wanted my son to be able to walk on the lawn without getting ticks on him. So far it sees to be working. More then a month a go I sprayed my lawn and 3 feet around it in the brush/wooded area with 4oz per gallon of water or less mixture. Last year I found 3 to 4 ticks on me after mowing the lawn... So this year I wanted to make sure that this wouldn't happen to my son. Doing all my online research I found this product to be the safest around mammals...humans. I am still cautious and will be wearing a mask to stop inhalation while spraying the lawn. I Also make sure a day or two passes before my son and I walk on the lawn. I made sure that we didn't have any lakes close by that water runs off into. We do have a well and found through my research that this product does not seep down deep into the earth.

P.s. ticks were so bad here last year I found one on my front door frame waiting to be picked up when my family came home from shopping. We also have wild animals walk through our lawn such as deer, raccoons, skunks, rabbits, chipmunks., extra... I also sprayed early to kill ticks in their eggs before they hatched. With 4 oz per spraying this gives me 40 plus spraying. One can use 2 oz per spray, mixing with 1 gallon of water, which will gives 80 plus sprays per 1.25 gallons of product. Spray ever month with 2 oz or less per gallon of water. Half life is 30 days in soil and 10 days on the leafs..from my research.
I still want to find a tick and test the product to see it die myself.

After trying close to a dozen "Box-store" bought pesticides in an attempt to rid my property of ants and earwigs (My wife's worst enemy) I was told by a family member to try a high % "Permethrin" product. I used this in a hose end sprayer with spectacular success. My applications were at a 3 tablespoon per gallon ratio for those trying to convert percentages into useful measurements. My observations are as follows:

- Almost immediately after spraying my entire yard and patio I was able to sit and watch the ants/wasps/roaches/earwigs/worms/centipedes/spiders/etc start to die. It looks to cause some sort of neurological damage as any insect that walks through it begins to flop around helplessly like they no longer know which way is up, eventually seizing up and dying within a few minutes.

- My application consisted of just wetting all areas around my house. No need to soak everything or drown ants or whatnot. The effect of the chemical persisted through ~5-6 good rainfalls but after that a few types of bugs started to return. For me in Colorado I am able to go about 1-1.5 months before needing to reapply. For someone in a drier climate, you may be able to go a bit longer between applications.

- I have not seen any problems firsthand but I have heard horror stories of reactions in felines when using this product. I have a cat and have sprayed this chemical outside while he is in the house with no problems, letting it dry for 2 days then letting him out and he has no visible reaction to the chemical. Your mileage may vary.

- Permethrin DOES have a chemical odor but it is fairly light. I wouldn't recommend applying large doses inside your home but in small quantities and once allowed to dry it shouldn't be too noticeable if at all.

I had an outbreak of turpentine beetles in some 35 year old loblolly pines around my campsite in North Alabama. I sprayed the trunks of the trees twice with Tengard and stopped the infestation, thus saving the trees. I had also used earlier to stop a southern pine beetle attack in trees surrounding a lightning strike and beetle spot.
