Book Description

Why are some people successful in their careers and failures at home? Some are alcoholics, some are not. Some have married frequently, some endure unhappy marriages. All share the family history of not having PERMISSION to be close, to trust and to be happy or positive. This book examines the behaviors arising from a lack of Permissions. These behaviors are eight Survival Styles which are based on personality types. Each style show how people find negative ways to meet their psychological needs.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Permission Not Granted" is for anyone tired of the inordinate amount of crises in their lives, whether (it's) in their personal or professional realms. -- Brenda M. Shaeffer, Author of "Is It Love or Is It Addiction?"-Harper/Hazelden

"With experience, compassion, and wisdom, Dr. Jim McKenna provides crisis-oriented family members insight and direction in their quest for a happy, health life." -- Taibi Kahler, Ph.D., President & CEO, Kahler Communications, Inc.

In learning how to forgive our parents their weaknesses and to accept ourselves unconditionally, what more precious gift can we give our children and their children than an emotionally healthy family in which to blossom. Som books tough lives. Few touch generations [as does Permission Not Granted]. -- Taibi Kahler, Ph.D., Author of "The Mastery of Management"
