5.0 out of 5 stars Rock On!!, August 2, 2003
By Matt (Stourbridge, West Midlands, England) - See all my reviews
When I first listened to this CD, it physically made me feel happy. The Darkness have truly brought back rock of the '80's'. The CD truly plays like a stack of greatest hits, no song on the album is worth skipping whatsoever. My personal favourites are "Get your hand off my woman", "I believe in a thing called love", "Love is only a feeling" and "Love on the rocks with no ice". Justin Hawkins has a unique yet humourous voice, and the whole album is mix of pure rock with some humourous lyrics and some lyrics that address some other issues. If your ever feeling down, play this album as it will make you feel a lot better. In my opinion, The Darkness are the best band to come out of the UK in years and without a doubt they are definitely my new favourite band. I would strongly recommend any fan of rock music to buy this album, it certainly isnt a waste of your money! 10/10!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best new album I've heard since G n' R's Appetite, July 27, 2003
By "topper151" (Washington state, USA) - See all my reviews
I read about these guys in the British rock magazine Kerrang. They're very big and popular in England. I decided to take a chance and buy the CD and I love it. The Darkness are obviously influenced by bands like Queen, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, UFO, and Guns n' Roses. Their songs on this, their first CD, are full of melodic hooks, but still rock. The singer, Justin Hawkins, frequently sings in a falsetto voice, much like Freddie Mercury did. If you want something different from the current norm, buy this CD. I don't think you'll regret it!!!
