5.0 out of 5 stars Permission to endulge, March 26, 2002
This review is from: Permission to Nap: Taking Time to Restore Your Spirit (Paperback)
The craftmanship of the book is as impressive as the words and art contained. Napping promotes health and happiness and yet so many of us feel guilty to endulge. I know I do. This book not only explains why one should nap using some interesting supporting stories and history, but it puts you in the right mood to nap. This book is the kind you would find in an upscale spa or salon and makes for a very enjoyable break. I know I would have a cool friend if I saw this on his/her coffee table.

This review is from: Permission to Nap: Taking Time to Restore Your Spirit (Paperback)
I never knew napping could be so indulgent! I love it. And I love this book. No only does it give you permission to nap, it tells you how to do it with style. With wonderful tipbits of information on aromatherapy, colors, fabric textures and soothing beverages, Jill Murphy Long's book is a joy to read and even better to put into practice. I just love her chapter on creating a nap sanctuary. Everyone should have that special place to sink into, to unwind, to rest.

Thanks to "Permission to Nap," I now take naps everyday. When my toddler son naps, I nap. And when we both awake, we have newfound energy for some serious playtime. This book is a MUST for every women who tries to do it all, and every women who works, and every women who is raising children. This book is literally for EVERY women because, no matter how she occupies her time, every women needs a daily, calming retreat and a whole lot of pampering.

The artwork lures you into a zone of relaxation even before you read the text. The chapters are filled with delicious bits of information, but presented in such a whimsical way that it's an effortless read. I'm giving copies to my best friends and daughter - to encourage them to appreciate life, restore their spirit, and permission to take time - and nap!

It is a book as beautiful and relaxing to look through as it is to read. And it is not only for women, as men today also need reminders to restore ourselves! Jill thankfully reminds us busy people of the simplicity of napping.

5.0 out of 5 stars California reader, July 1, 2002

This review is from: Permission to Nap: Taking Time to Restore Your Spirit (Paperback)
"Permission to Nap, Taking Time to Restore Your Sprit" has touched a raw nerve at my house, and from what I have heard, at the homes and offices of many American women. We all need time to ourselves and time to rest. In our 24/7 world, between housework and paperwork, our work is never done. I am having a wonderful time trying all of the book's recipes and creating my nap sanctuary. I can now say that I am looking forward to my naps without guilt because with my book in hand, I finally have "permission to nap".

5.0 out of 5 stars I needed this book!, February 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Permission to Nap: Taking Time to Restore Your Spirit (Paperback)
Hi! As a mom of three adorable but exhausting children, I needed permission to nap when they did. Thanks to this book, I have created my very own nap sanctuary filled with aromatherapy--neroli is now my new favorite essential oil--velvety pillows, and a water carafe and matching cup. With this author's recommendations (see chapter 8), I started my collection of soothing music CDs. The kids now know that it is a good thing to take a nap, especially when mom heads into her haven. (Everyone knows that when mom is happy, everyone is happy.) This is my new 'must buy' gift for all my friends who are busy moms like me or are on the career track. No matter what we do, women always do too much. I now make time for me--and self care every day is a must. Time for my siesta!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my mom and other moms everywhere!, November 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Permission to Nap: Taking Time to Restore Your Spirit (Paperback)
My mother does too much and never takes a break. My roommate suggested Permission to Nap and I think it is perfect for my mom for the holidays. In fact, I bought one for myself, my sisters, and my aunts, too. We all seem to be work-alcohics in one way or another and frequent luxurious naps--or simply fifteen minutes of downtime every day sounds just perfect for Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Restorative, August 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Permission to Nap: Taking Time to Restore Your Spirit (Paperback)
Purchased orginally as a gift for a friend who finds time to nap in addition her career, active family, and demanding schedule. After perusing the book, I ordered another copy for myself.

Conversationally written with inspiring quotes woven throughout the book. Informative, thoughtful, covering a range of topics from the benefits of adequate sleep to creating an environment (bare essentials to lavish indulgences) for a restorative nap that nutures the body and spirit. I've used the ideas and techniques from the book and have experienced positive changes in my life. Family, friends and work have benefitted from my naptime, too!
