5.0 out of 5 stars Great Series Price in Prospective, February 15, 2010
By Rodney D. Clark (glen burnie md) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Friends of Perry Mason:
As a fan of the Perry Mason tv series I must protest the cost problem. When CBS offered PM on VHS I ordered all they had, 60 tapes with 120 episodes. Each cassette cost $24.95 for 2 episodes. Now you may call me stupid but I have watched those shows more than any other in my collection of tapes. Now we are given an opportunity to purchase the entire series in order of air date and folks think $35 for 13 episopes is out of line? Please, spare me. I can't wait for each half-season to come out. I just wish they would come more quickly. I know I'm in a minority and no, I'm not a rich eccentric (retired high school teacher). I have really enjoyed seeing the episodes that CBS never offered. Take care all and maybe be thankful we have the opportunity to enjoy the shows in near HD quality (1080 upgrade DVD player.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entitlement whining?, February 24, 2010
I agree the cost is high compared to other TV DVDs. On the other hand, we have NO reason to expect that anyone HAS to sell us anything. It is up the entity who owns the item to decide if they want to sell it and for what price. Then it is up to the consumer to decide whether to buy. All this complaining about price sounds like entitlement whining. We are not entitled to Perry Mason DVDs at some price set by the buyer. Not being able to afford PM is not like not being able to afford health care, PM is a luxury item. I'm just glad that living in 2010 we even have the opportunity to own this great series in such great quality. When it was first broadcast over air many of us had to watch through snow while adjusting the rabbit ears. I for one will continue to buy at the present price and would pay even more. This being said I continue to record less than stellar quality broadcasts of seasons 6,7,8,9 from my local TV station for my own use in case CBS pulls the plug which they may well do especially if the whining continues and negatively impacts sales. I know this sounds like something written by a right-wing, ultra capitalist but I'm not...I'm a left-wing pinko commie socialist Canadian who sees the end of DVDs and the ability to own anything more than a download. Like books, I like to see PM DVDs on my shelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hurray! Season Five arrives, February 10, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
So glad this great series is continuing to be released. The price is 36.99, not 49.00. Perry Mason has been widely reviewed on the sites for its other seasons, so I won't repeat them here. However, if anyone knows how many episodes are on this half season, please let us know. Thanks.
