For fans of music with soul.,

This band is so good it hurts. They might be under the radar, but not for long. (and who cares really?) This is for fans of DCFC, the Shins, Elliot Smith or anything with a soul. Poppy melodies that are unexpected and work closely with well written songs and arrangements. Their first album was an indie masterpiece with varied songs that slightly tinge on melancholy, but are thoughtful, high on charm, loose, interesting and original. This second effort is a little tighter and polished, but doesn't loose any of their charm. I spun it once or twice and now I can't stop because their hooks sneak up on you and take you over. Sure their are a lot of "hot" new bands out there with funny names. But not all of them can duplicate their success and grow. This is one, don't pass them up.

5 stars. Their best album to date, in my opinion. I've listened to it tons of times over the past 2 years and it still sounds as good as the first few plays....maybe even better. I'm still finding little gems in the harmonies, arrangements, and playing after all this time. Their new CD, "Let It Sway", is almost as good and completely deserves your attention as well.

album 2 from SSLYBY is a winner - the album starts with the strongest and most enthusiastic track, glue girls, and continues to new sonic ground for phil, will, jonathan, and john robert. simply - it's youthful, melodic music by DIY, keep your home in your heart musicians. if you want to just have a good time, this album is one of the best of '08.
