1.0 out of 5 stars Not at all what I expected - very, very disappointed, December 4, 2004
By
This review is from: Joy of Persian Cooking (Spiral-bound)
I bought this cookbook thinking it was persian cooking. I certainly did not expect to see recipes for Italian dishes and dumbed down american dishes. I wouldn't even say these are recipes - things like dumping a can of cream of mushroom soup with other things is not cooking in my mind. This is neither persian cooking or american cooking - it's a disgrace to people who enjoy the art of either. I'm returning the book. I'd give this 0 stars, but unfortunately, Amazon doesn't have that option.

5.0 out of 5 stars A feast for the eye and the mouth, January 2, 2001

I highly recommend this international cookbook whether you are a sophisticated cook or an enthusiastic beginner. I made the walnut and veal stew with the upside-down rice to complement my Christmas dinner. The golden crust of the rice was awesome. The star meringue made an impressive and easy dessert. I've made the salmon tart both as an appetizer and as a light lucheon meal. The step-by-step instructions make cooking simple. The end result for every recipe I tried was both a feast for the eye and the mouth.
