5.0 out of 5 stars Great game, but don't buy it yet again just for the extras.
Persona 3 has been out for over a year, and Fes, the updated edition of it, has been out for several months as well, so I won't bother rehashing what has already been said: this game is amazing. 3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings about the Soundtrack
As I've bought the game before and played it this review isn't intended toward the game itself, if you want a proper review for it head to the game only product page. This review is from: Persona 3 FES with Soundtrack CD and Artbook (Video Game)
Persona 3 has been out for over a year, and Fes, the updated edition of it, has been out for several months as well, so I won't bother rehashing what has already been said: this game is amazing. If you like RPGs at all, purchase it, and if you've been hesitating, now is the time to purchase it, as it includes an art book and soundtrack for less than the MSRP of Fes itself and half the MSRP of the original game.

I purchased Persona 3 and loved it, as well as the art book and soundtrack that were included. I was about halfway through when Fes was announced, and was able to partially transfer my game save (character stats carry over, but you must start the game proper from the beginning). I didn't feel slighted at buying the original, since I did have the slipcover, book, and soundtrack with it, although the player's guide (from DoubleJump, sold seperately) doesn't cover the bonus content of Fes or the in-game quiz questions, which have been changed from the original.

Then this launched, and, at the sale price, I couldn't resist purchasing it again, hoping for an all-new slipcover, artbook, and soundtrack based around Fes.

To sum it up, I was disappointed: the "bonus materials" are the same as the ones included in the original release of the game, not updated for Fes. Its effectively the same as the original release except there's the updated Persona 3 FES in the box instead of the original Persona 3. An AMAZING deal if you're just getting into the game, but not worthwhile (and actually quite frustrating) if you're a fan hoping for new swag.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings about the Soundtrack, December 2, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Persona 3 FES with Soundtrack CD and Artbook (Video Game)
As I've bought the game before and played it this review isn't intended toward the game itself, if you want a proper review for it head to the game only product page. This is just a small little tidbit of onformation for those who have already played the game and are interested in the soundtrack and artbook. As far as I'm concerned the artbook while small, and it being my first game artbook, I was generally pleased with it, it had a few new pieces of art I had not seen before which really made it a nice addition. As for the soundtrack I was a little dissappointed with it's delivery, not only was it the Persona 3 soundtrack, not FES, but it was packed in a small sleeve cover and slipped inside the artbook. While I still enjoy the soundtrack I would have wished that I'd have gotten the FES soundtrack and not the original Persona 3 one. I for one picked this up during Black Friday so in my opinion it's not worth paying 40-50 dollars if you already own the game. If you'd still want to go through with it make sure you can either find a good way to dispose of your previous copy or that you atleast know what you're buying. I give the package itself a 3 star rating, while the game obviously gets a full 5 stars. If this is your first purchase of the game, it's highly recommended that you are aware of the lower price of the game alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Persona-User to the Game, February 25, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Persona 3 FES with Soundtrack CD and Artbook (Video Game)
I've never played any of the Shin Megami Tensei games up until very recently. In fact, it was the free-to-play MMORPG "Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online" that got me into the whole Shin Megami thing to begin with. After playing the MMO I got interested in playing the games that came before it, so when I found Persona 3 FES here on Amazon (with the soundtrack and art book at that) I was very excited and snatched it up quickly.
I wasn't disappointed.

P3:FES is truly a great game. I've been playing it quite a bit since I got it and have clocked around 35 hours of time in the game, and still I haven't even gotten half way through it yet. The story is great, and I love how your character is, by day, just a regular school kid. You go to school, you "learn", you study, and you can socialize and make friends to help increase your ranking. A very interesting spin on your standard RPG, so there's more to do than just your usual dungeon crawling. Though there is dungeon crawling, and a good deal of it.

Needless to say, I'm very pleased with this game. Pleased enough that I just picked up Persona 4 (with soundtrack and art book) here on Amazon as well just about a week ago-- which is also a great game.

I highly recommend this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another diamond amongst gems, August 5, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Persona 3 FES with Soundtrack CD and Artbook (Video Game)
Persona 3 FES is one of the greatest games I've ever played. PS2 is still very much alive and with games like Persona 3 FES, I can see why. I really see no faults in this game. It consumed me from beginning to end with its dark engaging story, complex characters, innovating battle system, catchy musical score, decent voice actors, dating sim aspects, collecting over 200+ Personas, balancing social life with school work and midnight battles. I've purchased both the original Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES and without a doubt, Persona 3 FES is the definitive version and the one game that must be added to your PS2 library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best RPG for its time, June 6, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Persona 3 FES with Soundtrack CD and Artbook (Video Game)
The game itself is fun, but a bit too structured, as in....if you dont follow a guide you really cannot achieve perfection. You don't need perfection and can do as you please, but why shoot for mediocre? The game has an exciting story that instantly drew me in. The fighting is fun and the roaming is decent. The artbook is a nice addition as well as the soundtrack. For the price, this is a must buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nerd Approved, May 5, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Persona 3 FES with Soundtrack CD and Artbook (Video Game)
I bought this game searching for any good RPG out of the final fantasy relm and, after several attempts w/ other games, finally found one. if your a nerd w/ alot of time on ur hands u'll love this game, but u really need ALOT of time to kill because the battling and leveling up can seem to go on and on forever, and there's not too much real story line imbetween, but it still makes for a fun and extremely addictive game. im about 40 hours in right now and only 20 percent through i'd guess, there's a definate timeline in this game as well, which is another plus to it because i've never come across a game that actually paid attention to any time spans before at all. in short, if u like final fantasy and the old star ocean 2 for PS1, or the really old one for SNES even, u'll at least like this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Persona 3 FES---an intriguing jrpg, April 24, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Persona 3 FES with Soundtrack CD and Artbook (Video Game)
I thought about buying this game about a year ago, but finally pulled the trigger one weekend in college because of Persona 3's huge amount of gameplay. 100 hours later, I can definitely say that FES is well worth it's price.

The Good: Half dungeon-crawling, half school/life simulation. Great Voice Acting during special cutscenes. Unique battling system. (The Personas and battles reminded me of "adult" PokEmon gameplay) The incredibly huge amount of gameplay is a huge bonus. Intriguing storyline filled with surprising and hilarious dialogue; I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit. I thought that the stylized graphics were pretty good for the PS2.

The Bad: Long waiting periods between Boss battles. Social links require a lot of busy work. The dungeon-crawling can be repetitive.

End Result: I had never played any real RPGs before Persona 3 FES, and I felt FES was easy to learn and enjoyed it thoroughly. Definitely a must-buy if you enjoy RPGs, and a great buy for people new to the RPG arena(like me).
