5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Album - Get It Now!!!, September 13, 2001
This review is from: Persona Non Grata (Audio CD)
Out of all the CDs I have ever owned, I have listened to this one more than any other. The mixture of styles is amazing, with some fantastic crunching riffs and funky bass lines, rudeboy is as crisp as ever, and the lack of any DJ in the band makes for a more down-to-earth raw finish which can really get you jumping. "Downer" is an epic ending to the album, "Demagogue" is a great, fast, punky, opener, and there is brilliant variety throughout, including highlights "Candy Strip Exp.", "Burnt Up Cigarette" and "Hangout", however my personal favourite has to be the supremely funky "Good Grief", as it is the song that got me into the band in the first place when I heard it on the Hackers soundtrack. It is in three different keys, each with a storming riff, a great yet fairly subtle guitar solo, and enough punch to knock out Tyson. Most songs have the characteristic random intros, including a game of (tennis? squash?), some strange wrong notes and some stranger quotes(?), and make for a good laugh and are a good way to break up the different tracks. Anyway, I'm gonna have my eggs now.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid, though routine, July 1, 2000
By
Czinczar (Southeast Michigan, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Persona Non Grata (Audio CD)
With the (temporary) departure of D. J. DNA, UDS was forced into another musical direction for a short while. Gone is the turntable work that spiced up their two previous albums. Here, we find them in a fairly straightforward rock style. Perhaps too straighforward for some. Plenty of solid rock songs, with an especially raw guitar sound. The studio sound quality is flat. Though the songs are strong, they're rather unimaginative. Eventally, the songs just plod on. Rudeboy's lyrics are unimaginative rapper bluster. There are some notable songs, like "Demagogue," "No Honestly!" "Alienated," and the live CD's "On The Downlow." A worthwhile album, but not what we've come to love from them. Fortunately, they got back into the groove in later albums. Maybe this album is a disappointment, or maybe it's just another dimension of them to appreciate. That's your decision.

5.0 out of 5 stars A CD that everyone has put down, BUT IT ROCKS, their best!!!, July 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Persona Non Grata (Audio CD)
This is the cd that all the reviewers bagged! They said, it's the worst cd that UDS has done, but it's the goddam best, Good Grief! is their best song they've ever done, along with Demagogue and Candy strip experience, this album is a hardcore mix or rock and rap! BUY IT!
