How hard is it to make a transistor amplifier?
Apparently it's beyond B&H. The microphone B&H chose for the input is sooo short range that the only sound amplified was my breathing, and the occasional sound of my hand/arm touching the unit. At only 10 feet from the TV at 'normal volume', I heard the TV better without this device than with it. I returned it immediately to the vendor for credit. If only it met my 'hard of hearing' mother's need... sigh.

Amplifies EVERYTHING!!! Means even the cable as it swishes against your clothing or when cable touches your face.
Audio not clear, sounds like listening through jar.

please don't buy sonic earz,
This review is from: Sonic Earz Personal Sound Amplifier By Bell and Howell. Listen up What Other People Are Talking
Regarding Sonic Earz Personal Sound Amplifier By Bell and Howell, please don't waste your money. I have never had a problem with any products or books I've purchased through Amazon. The only thing this product did was amplify noise from the sound from brushing against clothing. After reading some of the positive reviews for this product, I even tested out the product to better hear the birds. That is something I had no intention of using it for, but since that worked for someone, I gave it a try. No,no sound. I could hear the birds without using this product, but couldn't hear the birds with it. Honestly, this product doesn't work at all. Possibly, I received a used or damaged item. I purchased a new item. However, I'm not sure if it wasn't used. The plastic package that usually is hard to open, even with scissors; I could easily open it just by pulling it apart. The earplugs are marked "L" and "R". Well, no sound at all from the "R" plug. Didn't matter since the product doesn't work. Since this product can't be returned, PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT. Chances are some work (per the positive reviews); however, since some do not work (per bad reviews), it is not worth the chance that you may get a damaged product like I did. Even, if the product could be returned (I did call and ask and know it can't be returned. understandable since earplugs are part of the package), it wouldn't be worth it considering what I paid originally for shipping and adding my shipping cost. Another thing regarding shipping charge for this product, double the price I usually pay for such a light-weight item. Complete waste of money.

THE ONLY WAY THIS THING WORKS IS IF IT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SOUND. IF MY FATHER HAS TO SIT A FOOT AWAY FROM THE TV FOR IT TO WORK, WHAT'S THE USE OF IT. PLEASE DON'T WASTE THE MONEY LIKE I DID!!

Good for TV watching.,

Non-directional microphone tends to amplify closest and loudest sounds. This is a decent amplifier for watching TV in a somewhat quiet room. Voices are lost to background noises in restaurant's and businesses. In the living room EARZ do help hear conversation.

This product works great to amplify television or stereo but it also picks up amplified background sound. You hear others taking and yourself talking. Someone walking or sneezing is very loud. Maybe if you used noise cancelling headphones it would work better. For the purpose of amplifying tv it does its job.

The Sonic Earz does not perform as stated. All you hear is static, you cannot hear people "up to 60 feet away". In fact, you can'thear them a foot away. Forget the movies, TV or any place/situation you may be in. In fact, you call talk into it and you still won't hear anything. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

This is a handy little item for people who have trouble hearing other people in small groups. I put it on the table in front of me at a recent meeting of about 7 people who were sitting in a circle. I could hear everyone, even the "whisperers. The sound is a little hollow, like being in a large, empty room, but for my purpose it did just fine. It is a great little helper until you are ready to make the big investment in hearing aids.
I tried it while watching TV; it did not work as well, but it did help me hear two soft speakers in a therapy session. All in all, a good investment. |
