Here are two more how-to books that seek to guide the increasing number of debtors through the bankruptcy process. Like William Ladd's Personal Bankruptcy for Individuals ( LJ 2/1/91) and Edward Haman's How To Fix Your Own Bankruptcy ( LJ 2/1/91), the new offerings define bankruptcy in its various forms and outline the filing procedure in plain language. The authors discuss options and advise readers on how to protect assets. Valuable information on the kinds of property protected from creditors is supplied for each state. Doran, an attorney, focuses on personal bankruptcy and adds a nice glossary and the text of some of the bankruptcy laws. Lawyer Ventura's volume is in workbook style and includes many forms and a discussion of bankruptcy for small business owners. All four books are competent, and most public libraries will want at least one.
