IF YOU LIKE DAVE LOGGINS THIS WILL APPEAL TO YOU,

THE CD IS NOT AS GOOD AS EARLIER ALBUMS LIKE 'APPRENCTICE IN A MUSICAL WORKSHOP' OR 'COUNTRY SUITE', BOTH OF WHICH ARE FABULOUS ALBUMS. TOO BAD WE CAN'T GET THESE TWO WORKS ON CD. IF YOU LIKE DAVE LOGGINS YOU'LL FIND A GREAT DEAL TO LIKE IN THIS CD. SEVERAL OF THE CUTS RISE TO THE LEVEL OF EARLIER WORKS ('PCS OF APRIL', 'SISTER MARY RYAN' AS EXAMPLES). ANYONE WHO LIKES 'PLEASE COME TO BOSTON' SHOULD LIKE THIS MATERIAL. THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCTION LEAVES SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED, OBVIOUSLY IT WAS DONE ON THE CHEAP. HOPE THIS HELPS.......HOPE WE GET SOME MORE OF DAVID IN THE FUTURE.

One of my all time favorite artists...
Actually Dave (cousin of Kenny and father of Quinn)released 5 albums... "Personal Belongings" 1972 (excellent 'simple' first album) "Apprentice in a Musical Workshop" 1974(I believe this killed his career, since most of the rest of the songs couldn't come near Please Come to Boston...so the people who bought this album decided not to buy the others that followed) "Country Suite" 1976 (nice followup, worth owning) "One Way Ticket To Paradise" 1977 (one of the best albums ever), is the song (album) I heard one night on FM radio which caused me to go out and buy all Dave's albums. He then released a more pop album "Dave Loggins" 1977 which has some real good stuff on it including a remake of Pieces of April. We also heard him singing (and probably writing) songs on many commercials over the next decade (including McDonalds). Then in 1985 he did a duet with Anne Murray and won a Grammy and CMA\Vocal Duo of the Year for "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do"...it was his soaring vocal that really made the song a hit...this was just a single. He also contributed some music to Wynonna's albums. I saw him in concert in SWFla in Fort Myers and he was a crowd favorite...coming back for an encore despite only being the opening act. He was so liked that they invited him back for a 4th of July celebration, which I was unable to attend:-( I wish that they'd release "One Way Ticket To Paradise" on CD...but I guess I could probably burn my own, now, from the LP. With the popularity that country music has seen for the last decade, I really hoped that he'd make a comeback...or team up with his cousin, or something. What a voice, what a song writer we've all missed out on.

The CD has great old fashioned cuts. Claudia and Pieces of April have wonderful word pictures to take you into another realm. There is diversity in tempo and yet a continuity and attention to qualtiy of music and lyric.

This is a Dave Loggins - pre Messina album. His voice is great and the words speak to me. He must have lost someone special as I have this year because every song is such a treasure and so cathartic.
